View Full Version : I'm new here HELP ME!!
as214 04-18-2005, 10:48 PM I just read a thread by a poster named "I Watch Boxing"!! He said that Tito Trinidad would KO Hearns in 4 Rounds!! To me this is so ridiculous and unbelievable. Does he have a biasness towards Tito because of shared ethnicity.. That's the only thing I can think of..

Tough call, Hearns never had a great chin, and Tito has always had 1 punch power with the left-hook....if Iran Barkley could KO the Hitman, I'd say that Tito could too
IwatchBoxing 04-18-2005, 10:55 PM Its not impossible, he was KO'd in three rounds by Hagler, and I just put that there to piss Hearns nut....fans (One mainly).
Did it work, :D ? Shhhh, dont spoil the fun.
abdiel2k3 04-18-2005, 10:56 PM possibly lil bias
but its boxing
anything can happen
and who has a beter chance at ko hearns then tito
borikua 04-18-2005, 10:56 PM Welcome to boxingscene as214...But plz don't make a thread calling for help just cuz u disagree with another user post...But back to Trinidad-Hearns, that's just a DREAM matchup....
I've always compared Hearns with Trinidad, Sugar Ray Leonard with De La Hoya, and Hagler with Nard...

Watch is a great contributor to this site. But if you read his other posts, you will see that he is extremely biased towards fighters who originate from Puerto Rico, and so is Borikua, who is another excellent contributor.
borikua 04-18-2005, 11:00 PM Hey Abdiel, who's that guy in your avatar...It's looks like a Puerto Rican..

I don't mean any disrespect and I would never do that if I thought it was a serious post.. If it was a serious post by I Watch Boxing then I apologize.. It just seemed so far fetched for someone to say Trinidad would Ko Hearns in Rd 4, I just figured it was a post to rile up a Hearns fan or a very very biased post..

But seriously, I was serious.

I'm not extremely biased...And not just cuz they are PR, cuz I hate Santos and Ruiz.. :D

Can you explain this to me...Is Gatti from Italy or from Canada?
as214 04-18-2005, 11:09 PM Can you explain this to me...Is Gatti from Italy or from Canada?
Gatti is moved to Canada when he was a young boy.. He is 100 percent Italian ethnicity!
-GBGQ- 04-18-2005, 11:10 PM There's nothing wrong with showing favoritism towards fighters you like but when you so obviously display your favoritism it allows others to dismiss your comments.
Yeah, Tito might be able to do it.
But by the same token, Tommy Hearns could've ko'd Tito in 2. (If that's how we are going to play it)
Thomas Hearns right hand as described by Emmanuel Steward, "was like a shot-gun." So you have a guy with an extremely dangerous left hook. And you in the other corner you have a guy with an extremely dangerous right hand.
And if it was my money...what the hell, I'm putting it on Hearns.
oldgringo 04-18-2005, 11:15 PM It's not an impossible idea...Trinidad KO'ing Hearns that is. Trinidad would just have to be very lucky to do it.
Hearns (in reality, away from PR dreamland) would have done whatever he wanted with Felix. His superior reach, jab, right hand to Tito's left, and incredible boxing skills would have made mince meat out of Trinidad.
The only way Tito stands a chance is if Tommy elects to come out and slug, in which case I'd still favor Hearns heavily. If he elects to box then Tito stands 0 chance.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who sees it that way.

Your opinions are VERY biased man...
don't forget Trinidad was knocked down by yory boy campas...
Trinidads never fought somebody like Hagler the way Hearns did..
that was pure toe to toe, Hopkins, and DLH don't count...
I actually think Hearns would've knocked Trinidad out in the 2nd round like he did to Duran and Cuevas...
**** I HOPE TRINIDAD GETS KNOCKED OUT!
Soundtraveler 04-18-2005, 11:22 PM Hearns would have been much too powerful for Tito, in this one Hearns wins it by KO very early in the fight, no doubt about it, it wouldn't go 2 rounds.
For one, Tito has been known to go down early in a fight, Hearns would blast him out.
Second, Tito does not have Hagler power, just look at the difference in their body muscularity, it isn't even close.
Third, Tito, as good as he is, does not have half of the skills a Sugar Ray Leonard had as a boxer. No where near the speed, not in his hands or his footspeed.
A Duran vs Trinidad would have made for a great fight though...
Tha Greatest 04-18-2005, 11:26 PM All Trinidad has is a Left Hook...
He doesnt goot footwork, ring generalship, talent, speed, brains, all he has are some extra guaze and tape and a left hook....
and he's a slow starter, and hearns would take advantage of that easily, and knock him out, prolly even in the 1st round...

All right, see this is what I'm talking about. Okay, it's obvious you don't like Tito. I'm not exactly a Trinidad fan either. But to say that he is just some average bum with a left hook is kind of out there.
And don't think I'm picking on you or anything because if you read above then you would see I'd totally pick Hearns to KO Tito. But because of that I'm not going to dismiss Trinidad off for a scrub.

His not a bum, i have his whole career on dvd and I love watching him fight...but he is over rated, comparin him to Hearn and Hagler...
-GBGQ- 04-18-2005, 11:35 PM I could see a slight case comparing the Big 3 of today to the 80's big 3. And I'm going to emphasize slight.
But cool, points taken.
Stickman 04-18-2005, 11:39 PM It depends on whether Hearns stayed focused or not. Focused, he was hard to hit. When he lost his focus, though, he tended to get himself in trouble quick and start catching big shots. His chin wasn't bad, but nothing to write home about either.
Tha Greatest 04-18-2005, 11:41 PM Remember people
Hearns's plan in the Hagler fight was to box him
but he had such a big entourage and one guy gave him a rubdown 20 minutes before the fight and he knew he wouldnt be able to move around like he's supposed to with the rub down
so he decided to go for a 1st round knockout

Bernard Hopkins' corner exposed Trinidad illegally double wrapping his fists before their fight. I wonder how many of his fights were/are attributable to his "extra guaze and tape" method.
