Back problems, eh? Yeah right, this was a clever ploy on Team Klitschko's part to delay a match versus Vitali's 1st quality opponent since Lennox sliced him to pieces. I'm not a fan of Don King, but he needs to push the WBC into allowing Rahman to fight for the interim title so that we can have a real champion at the top of the sport, one who doesn't chicken out whenever the going gets tough....say what you will about the supposed "surgery" that Vitali will have, we've all seen this type of delay before (Oscar did this to Fernando, Tyson did this to Holyfield), a phony injury where one fighter tries to stretch the timeframe of the match in order to psyche-out their opponent....your thoughts!

Well, I really don't know enough about it to make much more than a guess, but that sucks. I've seen this type of thing as well, and as much as I'd like to think he wouldn't do something like this, only he and his team know for sure.

According to *********, it's back surgery. And according to *********, Rahman vs. Barrett for the interim title is possible...

Klitschko to have surgery!
Champion's fight with Rahman fight postponed again!
WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko is scheduled to go in for back surgery Wednesday in Los Angeles, forcing yet another postponement of his oft-delayed WBC title defense against Hasim Rahman. According to the Baltimore Sun, Klitschko apparently won't be healthy until September. There is now talk of Rahman facing Monte Barrett for an interim version of the WBC belt on July 23.

Geez, Vitali's crew is so shady that they can't even get their injuries straight :)

I was a fan of Vitali's, until his team chose Danny Freakin Williams for his 1st title defense, maybe the worst PPV card in history, and the most undeserving heavyweight championship challenger since Vaughn Bean

Klitscko is abnormalily tall. Fighters like this usually suffer back, leg problems etc..
I don`t think Klits career will last much longer, i give him two three more fights then he`s through!

I almost said Meehan, but the WBO belt is not the "championship", and Bean fought Holyfield for the world "championship", good point tho brother

Tell you who I'd like to see Rahman fight as a fill-in (it'll never happen, I know) - Danny Williams.

Come on, let's hear how Rahman would beat Danny. What's the result with their common foe? Danny KO1 Meehan, Rahman TKO4 Meehan?

As Vitali is having his back operated on, then the title of the thread is a witty pun - was it intentional?

are we about to agree on something?? Holy shnykies!

You called it, Vitali has ahd too many injuries to be a force in the division for years to come, which is why I'd love for Rahman to wear the crown, he's usually ready willin' & able to fight anybody anytime anywhere

why are you so high on Rahman?!?
ready and willing to fight anybody, anytime, anywhere...except when he tried everything to get out of the rematch with lewis. Lewis had to threaten to take him to court in order for Rahman to grant the rematch.(he might have even taken him to court..not sure). doesnt sound like a guy willing to fight anyone.

he's the last person to make holyfield look like a young man. then his two fights with Tua and Ruiz are up there for worst fights in '03. if you're looking for someone who's gonna take Vitali out..it aint gonna be Rahman. Unless of course Klitschko breaks his leg during the fight or gets cut.

dont believe all this "rededicated" to the game until a fighter faces some real tests. oh and Cole, Cawley, Maheen, etc. don't count obviously.

vitali is not ducking no one, there is no one who can possibly beat him right now...so he has no reason to duck

Hasim Rahman had a chance especially if he came in the proper shape to fight.

.....Give the man a prize because he is absolutely corect!!! Anyone who begs Lennox Lewis to give him a rematch and until very recently still wanted to fight the still dangerous Tyson in a no win situation cannot be said to be afraid of anyone. Least of all Rahman.
