and Oscar. Its a fact they are the gihest paid fighters in the business, in regards of ppv and money they bring to the table. Oscar is the 6 highest paid athlete in the world thats including Tiger Woods, Shaq, MJ and others

Outside the ring (aka Hollywood and corporate phonies) no doubt it's Tyson and De La Hoya.

With real boxing fans De La Hoya's fanbase drops considerably, at least these days, though Tyson still has a huge following. Add to that list Mayweather, Trinidad, Gatti and Morales and you might have the top 5. Of course Paq probably deserves to be up there, as well.

Honourable mentions go to Vitali, Toney and Kostya. I'm sure I've missed somebody :confused: .

dlh and tyson will always be the biggest "draws" but i dont think that means they have the most die hard fans. i know people that have never seen a boxing match in their life but they hear the name tyson and they order ppv's and gather people to watch.

A lot of people grew up watching Tyson, though, and will watch him fight anyone. I'd consider them die hard fans especially because I'm sure most of them know that he's pretty shot these days. People who know a lot about boxing still like Tyson because he was the man when they were kids.

Plus a lot of people don't get to know how good he really is because they've already made a point of hating him ahead of time. So I guess, yeah, he doesn't have a lot of what you might call "fans".

And that is how I feel about Mike Tyson. I am not a true fan of his, but I like to watch him fight. I dont approve of his "out of the ring" antics, but I like to watch him bomb people. In terms of having the most widespread fans, I'd have to say Tyson & Gatti. Most people outside of US doesnt even know dela hoya and boxing fans outside US are not particularly crazy about him. In terms of raw numbers, The Pacman could very well be up there, as Merchant pointed out, the Elvis or Ali of the Phillippines... An estimated of 30million+ filipinos saw the fight vs Morales so thats pretty huge.

Freitas, as well, has a big following if you're talking just pure numbers (Brazil is a damn big country).

Nope. In terms of "actual fan base". John Ruiz has the most fans. There are so many in China that I lost count. I know half of them, and talk to them on the phone about his undefeated record, and brilliant ring tactics.

Floyd is such a great fighter to watch because he is such a complete fighter and you see that in eveything he does in the ring.

You will not find many others, hard pressed to agree with us on that. He is extremely exciting, because of his versatility. And like I have been saying, the Augustus/Burton fight is one of the best fights I have seen. Period. Floyd is a warrior, believe it or not.

I agree. As much people dislike him, how can you not watch him, most of the haters watch him to see if he's gonna lose.

Trust me...he has fans...

While I'm a Tyson fan, I think he has the most fans, him and De La Hoya, but I think people like Félix Trinidad and Manny Pacquiao have the most loyal fans. Boricua and Pinoys will kill a ***** for their hometown heroes.
