View Full Version : Why Williams would be the more exciting WBC champ
!! Anorak 11-27-2004, 07:54 PM Vitali... how long has it been since he won the title?
Danny would defend it far more regularly... and that's because he wants to give up boxing ASAP as it's against his religion.
Imagine... Vitali goes in every fight as a sure bet... with Danny, you wouldn't know what to expect.
Here's where I put it on the line... Danny will beat Vitali next month.
Exciterx24 11-27-2004, 07:56 PM Off topic but does anyone think that Williams looks like a bearded heavyweight version of Thomas Hearns?
About Williams winning, I sincerely doubt it.
MlLkMan 11-27-2004, 08:07 PM Vitali is too strong.
PacKillsMorales 11-27-2004, 08:23 PM and he aint no hearns :D

williams said he was retiring if he wins. if williams wins it will just add to the confusion.i am rooting for vitali klitscko for the first time in my life :D
tys0n 11-27-2004, 10:07 PM williams would not be a better champ. hes not as good as people think. after he loses to vitali he will good back to being a nobody.
jack_the_rippuh 11-27-2004, 10:11 PM He can't be that exciting if he's retired...
paulmmv 11-27-2004, 10:13 PM what there is no was williams will beat vitali Vitali has the heart of a champ and deserves the title while williams really has not proved a thing by beating a crippled tyson

Are you joking?
Vitali won the title in May. That will be seven months from the first time he defends it. Lewis defended his title half as often. Besides, it's to early to make a call about how regularly he'll fight. Besides, retired champions tend not to defend too often.
!! Anorak 11-28-2004, 07:35 AM Firstly, when I wrote this last night, I was drunk. I'm amazed, reading it back with a mild hangover, that it makes any kind of sense at all.
But Danny didn't say he'd retire immediately after beating Vitali, just reasonably quickly. (Unless anyone knows differently)
As for defences, I'm thinking back past Lewis to the old days, where champs used to defend all the time. 60s-70s, that period. Though I guess if there's not the audience for it...

Let me get this straight, you say that Williams who is less talented and will retire soon would be a more exiting champ.
Your right that it will be a lot harder to predict the outcome if Danny defends the tittle.
And Danny winning? Ah right you were drunk when you wrote it.
!! Anorak 11-28-2004, 09:15 AM What makes you say Danny is less talented? How many of his fights have you seen?
As for excitement, then having a 6'7 (or is it 6'8?) champ that's supposed to be a heavy hitter and could take out most of the division isn't so enticing... look at last night, with Barrera-Morale's "either could win" match.
Well its not worse than comparing Vits record with Danny`s.
And about heavy hitting, only one man has gone the ful time with him, and Danny needed an enourmous amount of punches against Tyson.
Ok i admit i havent seen much of Danny`s fights.
But Vit`s last fights sure was exiting.
BrooklynBomber 11-28-2004, 11:36 AM BTW Vitaly is fighting third time this year. Johnson, Sanders and now Williams. So he fights three times more than Lewis

D.Williams wouldn't be a good champ because he wants to get out of boxing for personal reasons not related to his religion.thats just excuse for not wanting to fight anymore. Ali was a muslim and so is tyson, its never been an issue for them.

I agree.....
!! Anorak 11-28-2004, 02:50 PM I agree.....Really?!!?
neils7147933 11-28-2004, 08:12 PM There's not too many guys who wouldn't be more exciting than Vit. The only reason he's not considered the most boring ranked heavyweight is because The Quiet Man has a belt, too.
tri4ben2 11-28-2004, 08:25 PM Williams is there to make Vitaly look fantastic and add to Vitalys legacy so that when Ruiz finally gets a hold of him, (I mean that literally), there can be more people talking about the lineal championship.
Williams is a puppet, and I expect the same crap that Kirk Johnson gave him.
!! Anorak 11-29-2004, 03:31 PM Well its not worse than comparing Vits record with Danny`s.When did I compare their records?
Danny was supposed to be Tyson's puppet, not Vitali's.

You dident, thats the point, if you did you would learn why Vit is more talented.
!! Anorak 11-29-2004, 04:48 PM I don't think you can compare talent on records, there's plenty of factors involved. For one thing, Danny has underachieved and will surprise... for the other, someone can be a good fighter without being a talented boxer. Just look at George Foreman. Technically Klit is somewhat crude, but his size and power allows him to win - that's not talent, surely?
!! Anorak 12-04-2004, 12:26 PM When I bet on Danny a couple of months ago I got 5-1... it's now fallen to 3-1.
freirui 12-04-2004, 12:50 PM Vitali will ko Williams cold.
