i love old school rap, i could never get tired of it cause back in the day artists actually made great cd's from begining to end there wasnt filler like there is now.

im 22 and didnt discover rap till i was 16+ at least.

id been into rap for awhile without even knowing who ice cube,
nwa or pe even were. your right about rap albums not being good
from beginning to end but i dont think illmatic is.

the music and beats are weak and are kept alive by some great
nas lyrics. in fact i downloaded tons of nas and the only tracks
i kept are "new york state of mind" and "get down".

just my opinion that illmatic is one of the most over rated rap
albums of all time.
i think if i hadnt been introduced to snoop, nwa and the other
dre dudes i might of liked it but thumping bass and beats with
lame rap is better than top rap with lame beats for me anyways

dont take it personally..its just musical preferences

i liked illmatics beats it gives the album the right feel for the lyrics, i think it would be weird to hear lifes a ***** on the snoop doggy dogg beat. illmatic wasnt made for the clubs thatswhy it doesnt have club beats
