View Full Version : Green teefs - who's going to Newcastle?
PittyPat 12-01-2009, 06:23 PM Not trying to arrange a meet-up (as if I'd want to meet any of you 'orrible lot! :laff2: ), but just putting out the feelers to folks who are going and can give any tips to a first-time attendee such as myself and a mate. Anything we should be aware of in Newcastle, or arena practices?
And how long am I looking at for the train from London?
Chunk. 12-01-2009, 11:01 PM I wanted to go but money's tight.
I've been to Newcastle a few times and it's probably the best night out in England. Booze is dirt cheap and the birds wear **** all!
Train from London takes about 3-4 hours depending on what service you're on?
Blairhoyle792 12-02-2009, 08:16 AM the birds are tramps, they are that easy to get in about.

timbatron 12-02-2009, 04:18 PM I lived in Newcastle for a year while I was at uni. There are loads and loads of great places to eat and drink. There is generally a great atmosphere about the place. Loads of dirty birds, plenty of hot, young, student totty. It's whore galore.
The Gate is a good place to start drinking. Then maybe head to Tiger Tiger, and Sinners for a couple, and end at either Digital or WHQ. Not sure if Blu Bambu is still open but that place is good for a slag or two too. I met a bird outside of there while I was waiting for a taxi...ten minutes later I was in her bed, and ten minutes after that I was throwing up in her bathroom. Mental night.
But there are dozens upon dozens of great places in Newcastle. I'm sure you will have a great time.
chrismart83 12-02-2009, 08:18 PM Id of liked to go but the Cotto - Pacman wiped out my bank account, dont think i can even afford to get any xmas presents in haha.
Would of liked to go the fight, then go out on the piss in Newcastle, heard its a great night out.

You went to Cotto vs Pacquiao. I bet that was amazing.
I'm going to Copenhagen is March to hopefully watch Froch vs Kessler. It's going to be my first trip abroad to watch boxng. Can't wait.
Davros? 12-03-2009, 11:10 AM I was thinking of going but its just to far for me to travel at short notice.

Yeah mate, me and a few mates went to Vegas for a week and watched the fight while we was there, was a great expierence.
Id love to go see Froch vs Kessler, should be a great fight plus Copenhagen looks a nice place.
shearer999 12-04-2009, 07:27 AM Word of advice to non locals going to the fight.
Dont drink in the bars next to the arena unless you are fans of jimmy sommerville, erasure etc. Stick to the Gate as suggested. Its a distance away but there are plenty women that way
toysale 12-04-2009, 07:35 AM Is Enzo on the undercard as well?
Newcastle's a class night out though, Keyside was class. You'll have a class one if your heading up.
PittyPat 12-04-2009, 10:29 AM Sorry about getting on here a while later, lads. Thanks for all the good advice - even though I don't drink, and am happily taken. :D
So yeah, sounds like it'll be a great weekend. I'm just dead chuffed to see Kevvers on the undercard as well. Hell, even watching DeGale should be a laff. :laff2:

DeGale: Just call me twinkle toes
JAMES DeGALE reckons he can rule the world — thanks to his dancing feet.
The Londoner has revealed the secret behind his success as a boxer is partly down to the skills he learnt as a ballet dancer.
DeGale, who won an Olympic gold medal before turning pro, attended a stage school as a youngster.
And he believes the fancy footwork he picked up as a pupil put him on the road to glory.
The 23-year-old said: "I went to stage school and did all different kinds of dance and acting and this and that.
"I half grew out of that and boxing took over but yes, I did bits and pieces.
"To be honest, I didn't really enjoy the ballet. I always forgot my ballet shoes and got detention!
"But apart from that it was OK — and it definitely helped with the footwork for my boxing.
"When you see me as an amateur, my footwork is unbelievable. Dancing definitely helped me with that.
"It was a bit of a weird mix though — imagine me doing ballet and boxing!"
DeGale faces Nathan King in his fifth professional fight in Newcastle on Saturday night.
And his trainer Jim McDonnell is confident Chunky's unbeaten streak will remain intact as he looks to blast his way to bigger and better things next year.
McDonnell said: "James wants to be a three-weight world champion so he can start in the middleweight division and just go through.
"He's been fighting as a super-middleweight but he can make the lighter limit, he's done it in the gym.
"He might as well go for the middleweight title first — that's the land of opportunity."
