I was reading this article in the NSB section and it said a boxer had died. As I kept reading someone had made a reference saying "Maybe he was having problems with his weight..."

My question is if you lose weight, are you even more likely to get hurt and possibly killed while boxing?

Not just losing weight as in losing fat, but when an already fit boxer (or anyone) is badly dehydrated (usually in an attempt to make weight) they don't have as much fluid around their brain protecting it, so they are in greater danger. And obviously dehydrating slows you down and weakens you so you are more likely to get hit in the first place.
