If Tua ever gets back to what he was (I know his last fight he didn't look impressive) do you think he can KO Toney? I think so.

If you saw Tua vs Byrd, that should be enough to tell you that Toney would basically smother Tuas power and outwork him inside for a relatively easy 12 round decision.

I guess it is not really the same as Tua Byrd, but the jist is that Toney is good at not getting hit with clean shots, and if Toney is thhowing 50-60 shots per round and Tua is only throwing 30, Toney will win the rounds.

no doubt that Toney will win the rounds, but does Tua have a big chance to KO him?

Of course. Toney doesn't have the reach advantage Byrd has and he isn't as quick. Toney could very well get caught and knocked out.

i agree byrd is really slick if he hit with power, he could own the heavy weight division.

james toney is about the same height as tua is, the other guys that have beaten tua have been over 6 foot with more power than toney, or in byrd's case better movement, toney is a static hittable guy, albeit with good skills, but i would still heavily favor tua

Well of course there is always the chance of Tua landing a bomb. I think there should be a difference noted here. Tua is a fighter, not a boxer, like Toney. And that, my friends is what we would all pay to see.

What does Tua do when he fights? He waits for the shot. And sooner or later, I think that Toney would leave an opening, brief as it may be, and Tua would put him into next week.

toney isnt a real heavyweight and tua has one of the hardest punches in boxing, imo it doesnt end well for toney. toney is known for his good chin at middle and supermiddle but i doubt it would hold up against tua's power. i think tua would use the same startegy as glen johnson did with roy jones, he would throw combos and toney would retreat to the ropes

When Jirov was hitting Toney to the body, he actually did some damage. Tua would make Toney piss blood for a week. And I'm a James Toney fan.

Toney UD descision, Toney can deal with Tua's power with his great defence and Toney has a better chin than anybody Tua has ever fought, Toney has never been hurt in his professional career.

If Tua's only chance would be to bang to the body, but he would not be able to get away with doing that without Toney landing clean counter shots. It would be one hell of a fight.

Toney has never been seriously hurt in the ring. As in temporarily loosing coherency, or being knocked down. He was knocked down once, that by Jones, but he was not hurt he got hit while he was clowning like a moron and off balance.

I think Toney could easily win a ud, but if anyone is gonna knock his ass out David Tua is the man to do it, his power punches are awsome.

i hope i'm wrong but i sort of doubt tua being able to get back in shape to be a top contender. but i can see him making paydays fighting up and comers. maybe fighting the other clowns in the weakest of weak hv division. as of april/05 i see toney clowning to a win over tua.a very slight chance of tua getting lucky early.
