The day I got Assassins Creed 2, it got the YLOD. I got it fixed and two-three weeks later it broke. I think I'm just going to get a slim, I just platinumed Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted 2 and was part way through my 2nd run on Modern Warfare on Veteran.

Horrible timing, atleast last time I finished all the games I wanted to before it broke.

You're just having some real BAD luck with the PS3. I haven't had any problems and I've had mine for almost 2 years now.

Mines a launch 60gb with the backward compatibility. So I've had it almost 3 years, alot of my friend seem to be having the same problem with the launch model right now. One of my friend has resorted to leaving it open so when it breaks he just fixes it right away.

I can't be bothered with that, fixing it once was bad enough. It looks like the slim for me I'm not paying the equivilant of $206 to get a refurbished 60gb one from Sony

Nah I got it yesterday, my PS3 broke in the morning while I was waiting for Kessler-Ward.

I meant I've had my Ps3 fixed for 2-3 weeks, I didn't really like the original AC but from what I've played the sequel is 10x better.

It's the harddrive, hate to put you in the hotseat..but stop watching **** on that PS3 internet browser. The PS3 is a OS(operating system) like a PC, but unlike a PC it doesn't have as much protection because it isn't supposed to... it's a gaming console. It's the HD that causes the yellow lights. Try either pulling out the HD and putting it back in, or do what my friend did when he got the yellow lights, just put a another ps3-ready HD in it. and you're set.

Its not the hard drive, I've had it reformatted and replaced it works when I use pin connectors to the PC. Its the thermal paste, Sony put god awful Thermal Paste and solder, I resoldered it and replaced the thermal paste and it worked for about 2 weeks but the fans in the PS3 aren't good enough to keep it cool, so when you turn it on and off it repeatedly heats and cools and the connectors on the solders break due to the cheap thermal paste.

I'm going to try fixing it again with Artic Thermal paste its meant to be the best stuff but costs a bit more and I'll have to get an external fan or find some way to manually increase the fan speed somehow.

I never buy used systems. I remember my friend bought a 360 used... Stupidest thing he could've ever done. Waste 500$ on a 360 with 3 controls and lots of games, but then it failed.
