Im not the greatest boxer in my gym so unless it's special it's 2-3 rounds.
I have diffrent trainers one likes to punch with the mits so i have the slip them, one likes to use one mitt for both hands, one does alot of combos and one does everything. I like all of them all tho the sliping gets annoying because the mitt is so wide. I adore it. it's the best.

It is very good and it's great to slip with them
i hate when they throw the mitt at u when u punch instead of lettin u reach for it, it gets VERY annoying!!

The thing is i dont really go to a BOXING gym it's more of a place where ppl come to get in shape, whatever goin to D-town next year....but I think punch mitts is the most important thing next to sparring...It's the most sport specific conditioning, and u can learn styles from it, and ur trainer works with u while u do it

very true. Even if you dont have trainers try to get someone to hold them and combo anyway. Or tell him/her to keep them down and then lift on at random and say a number like:

trainer wanabe lifts right mitt and says "2"
ThaGreatest throws 2 left jabs.

My trainer does like 3 or 4 rounds with them.

What's the best thing to do if you don't have a trainer for mits? I know combos can be worked with shadowboxing and heavy bag, but what about the timing?

on a good day 3 - 4 rounds. it's really annoying when my trainer throws in a few random body shots. he throws them hard as hell too. i love the mitts, besides sparring, it's my favorite exercise.
