View Full Version : Antwun Echols vs Kingsley Ikeke Bozo_no no 04-09-2005, 11:37 PM

Next Friday on ESPN, who do you think will take this fight?

Super_Lightweight 04-09-2005, 11:40 PM I think Echols is past his prime and Ikeke is just entering his, but Echols has the power to stop the fight at any time. I'll say Ikeke by decision. 8 rounds to 4. Bozo_no no 04-09-2005, 11:51 PM Isn't Ikeke 6'4? The Fix 04-10-2005, 01:04 AM Isn't Ikeke 6'4? yeah, he is very tall for a middle. ikeke wins the fight by UD, if the hopkins fight falls through taylor should fight ikeke. Gattz187 04-10-2005, 01:41 AM can u guys tell me whats the average hieght for a mid. Iam 5 10 right now i think ill grow more Bozo_no no 04-10-2005, 04:58 PM Does anyone give Echols a chance? How's Ikeke's chin? AintGottaClue 04-10-2005, 05:13 PM 5'10 is the average for middle ya, 6'4 is big big for middle The Fix 04-10-2005, 09:44 PM Does anyone give Echols a chance? How's Ikeke's chin? ikeke's chin hasnt been tested but he must have a massive reach advantage so i dont think echols will get inside and land a bomb. i think echols has a great chance at winning, ikeke has faced some good competition but echols will prob be the best fighter he will have fought. vizcaya 04-10-2005, 09:54 PM I am hoping for a mid round stoppage for Ikeke . I am up here in Spokane for business, so I will be there live at the fight. Hoping for a solid fight card. hollister 04-10-2005, 11:37 PM I'm pulling for Echols on this one. GattiFan 04-11-2005, 12:46 AM Ikeke hasnt been in with anyone good enough to have me think he can handle Echols. Echols by UD. Bozo_no no 04-15-2005, 03:25 PM This fight is on ESPN tonight I believe. The Troll 04-15-2005, 03:27 PM I have never seen either of these guys fight I can care less who wins. If it is on ESPN thats cool though I will for sure watch it. The Fix 04-15-2005, 03:54 PM I have never seen either of these guys fight I can care less who wins. If it is on ESPN thats cool though I will for sure watch it. ive seen both fight and i even seen ikeke live, the fight is def worth watching cause its for a number two contender and it has two quality guys. SacTown1 04-15-2005, 04:38 PM ive seen both fight and i even seen ikeke live, the fight is def worth watching cause its for a number two contender and it has two quality guys. Good call, there is quite a bit at stake tonight....IMO Echols was never that great, he just matched up well with Hopkins and gave 'em hell in their 2 fights, and his rep has been based on those 2 losses....tonight will be another good showing in a losing effort, I'll take Ikeke with a razor thin UD jpboxer3 04-15-2005, 04:39 PM Ikeke by boring Decision or Echols by KO. oldgringo 04-15-2005, 04:57 PM Ikeke by boring Decision or Echols by KO. Thats what I think too. Ikeke will just use his range all night or Echols will hit him with something nasty and take him out late. lb.4lb.rob 04-15-2005, 05:01 PM Anybody know the weight? 160-168? It could be the difference. borikua 04-15-2005, 05:07 PM Who's dat in ur sig O.G.? oldgringo 04-15-2005, 05:34 PM Who's dat in ur sig O.G.? It's Devin The Dude....rapper out of Houston. He's pretty good and apparently likes to break-dance. To sample his music, download the songs Doobie Ashtray and Motha...they are both very good. vizcaya 04-15-2005, 05:57 PM I have not seen Ikeke fight, so I am not sure what he will bring. I have seen Echols fight, and he can fight a rough fight. Echols will need to muscle Ikeke to the ropes, and keep the fight close. Ikeke may come into the ring nervous being that this is a step up in comp. It would be wise for Echols to attack early, and look to hurt Ikeke early. This fight is a crossroads for both fighters. The only way both fighters will lose, is if the fight is boring. Ikeke needs to be explosive, and show he has got what it takes to be at the top of the rankings, Echols needs to be focused and use his experience to make Ikeke fight a Echols fight. The Fix 04-15-2005, 08:08 PM It's Devin The Dude....rapper out of Houston. He's pretty good and apparently likes to break-dance. To sample his music, download the songs Doobie Ashtray and Motha...they are both very good. ive heard little bushwick bill is a great break dancer and has been in numerous competitions... it think it would be pretty funny to see Bozo_no no 04-15-2005, 09:43 PM These guys have sparred: Echols and Ikeke are not strangers. They sparred together several years ago, and their have been many rumors that Ikeke broke Echols' ribs in those sessions and that Echols was planning on getting revenge in this fight. With Ikeke, however, he is not one to do a lot of talking outside the ring. "He is good," states Ikeke, "but I will do my talking inside the ring. When I sparred with him it was not a problem. He is coming to fight anyway, it does not matter. It is up to me to make him fight my fight, and not let him fight his. It is funny, because at that time he said he would never fight me, but now he has too." So if Echols claimed he would never fight Ikeke after their sparring sessions, why has he had a change of heart now? There could be many reasons. Some believe that Echols needs the money, but Ikeke feels that Echols is trying to use him to make a statement. "It is hard to say, maybe he wants to make a statement," says Ikeke. "You never know, all I know is it is going to be a good fight." Bozo_no no 04-15-2005, 09:45 PM If anyone's watching and could do some updates round by round, that'd be great. Its not on TV here until tomorow :( dando 04-15-2005, 10:51 PM I hope Ikeke loses, he is seriously one of the most boring fighters I've ever seen. Bozo_no no 04-15-2005, 11:18 PM BUMP Anyone watching? loangunZ 04-15-2005, 11:48 PM yea echols is getting killed by that jab Bozo_no no 04-15-2005, 11:51 PM What round? Who's winning? loangunZ 04-15-2005, 11:58 PM round 9 just started the fight might be stopped soon because of echols swollen right eye loangunZ 04-16-2005, 12:00 AM does echols have a history of swelling because he is swelling up in gatti fashion right now yea I have ikeke ahead he has taken over the last couple of rounds Bozo_no no 04-16-2005, 12:02 AM does echols have a history of swelling because he is swelling up in gatti fashion right now yea I have ikeke ahead he has taken over the last couple of rounds Cool, keep the updates coming. Much apreciated. loangunZ 04-16-2005, 12:05 AM round 10 echols can't see out of his right eye and took a knee, ikeke dominated picking his shots loangunZ 04-16-2005, 12:06 AM oh echols trainer just stopped the fight Bozo_no no 04-16-2005, 12:06 AM round 10 echols can't see out of his right eye and took a knee, ikeke dominated picking his shots A 10th round stoppage? Sounds like a good win for Ikeke loangunZ 04-16-2005, 12:08 AM yea it's over, his trainer asked if he could see out of his eye and echols said sortof so the trainer stopped the fight before the start of the 11th round TyrantT316 04-16-2005, 12:08 AM now we have to hear how Hopkins is scared and ducking Ikeke... AintGottaClue 04-16-2005, 12:19 AM ikeke aint that good at all oldgringo 04-16-2005, 12:39 AM A 10th round stoppage? Sounds like a good win for Ikeke Basically Ikeke's range and left jab killed Echols right eye. He used his long arms to jab him to death. Echols didn't look like himself really but I guess he said that the weight loss didn't effect him so there are no excuses. I had it 7-3 at the time of the stoppage. Ikeke didn't look very spectacular either...he didn't put his punches together behind the jab very well and he really could have busted up Echols from rd 7 on but he didn't. Nonetheless it's a good win against a name opponent. |
