View Full Version : Barrera possibly moving up to 135
Kenny Blankenship 04-09-2005, 11:34 PM How many of you think this is to try and steal some of Morales thunder after the victory over Pac?
These two guys must really hate each other.
Looks to me like Barrera is considering this only to try and lock Morales out of a title fight at 135.
These two have to fight again, maybe it'll happen at 135?
I think Barrera would get shredded by the top guys in this division:

Oscar: Barrera to 135?
Saturday, April 9 2005
By Karl Freitag
Marco Antonio Barrera vs Luis Castillo? Diego Corrales? Acelino Freitas? Joel Casamayor? It could happen. Future Hall of Famer and Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya, who is in El Paso for tonight's WBC super featherweight title showdown between Barrera and #1 ranked Mzonke Fana, told *********.com that Barrera is considering testing the waters at 135lbs, where if he wins a title, he would become the first Mexican fighter to win a title in four weight divisions.

How do they determine exactly who gets to fight for a vacated title?
Does a current title holder at a lower weight class get the right to fight for a vacated title in a higher weight class over a non-title holder?
This is assuming Castillo beats Corrales in May and vacates his belts at 135 to move up to 140.

he stalks erik like he can't live without el terrible... fight manny you coward!!!
Bozo_no no 04-09-2005, 11:50 PM I agree.
Pacquio delt him a one sided beating.
He says he doesn't want to fight Manny again because "If I win, people will only say its because Morales softend him up".
Bull ****.
I like Barrera a lot, but there's no reason he shouldn't try and avenge one of the most one sided beatings in a #4# vs #4# in a long time.
Super_Lightweight 04-09-2005, 11:53 PM If that's true, than it is pretty much undeniable that MAB is SCARED of Manny.
Puss.

LOL. whatever dude. Youre pinoy is finished. The candle our mexicans hold is a "tad bit too hot" for his small hands to handle. Not to mention.
Freitas would k.o. him within 4 rounds IMO. And he is "Portugues".

He is not really my Pinoy. I mean, I am not even from the islands. I'm Native American and Irish.
Knives, don't be silly. MAB got thrashed by Pac and don't you think his excuses are lame for not rematching Pac?
Seriously...

To be honest. M.A.B. stands about 0 chances of winning a rematch with Manny. I can talk trash, and try and piss people off though, based on my 1st ammendment rights however. Trust me, I am not as retarded as I seem. Manny is far too aggressive for Marco in a general sense.

I know, hes scared as ****. Insulting Pac like he didnt get beat the **** out of :boxing:
sane0t0 04-10-2005, 12:07 AM Barrera wants to cash in on his belt now. He knows fighting Manny would be a big risk for pay days, so I think he's just saying crap about Manny because he wants $. Money talks and Manny would shut it up for MAB.

WTF? Barrera is still a very quality fighter. However, I would like to see him take on the Pac man again.

.::|ULTIMATE|::. 04-10-2005, 04:54 AM they are definitely trying to jack Erik Morales' thunder.
GBP knows that he has dibs on fighting for the vacant wbc belt. And just like todays match he would probably face a crappy opponent just so he can be the first and get under Morales' skin.
