View Full Version : Sauerland: "Bute ready to join the super-six."
BattlingNelson 11-19-2009, 09:54 AM Danish daily Jyllandsposten today has an interview with Kalle Sauerland, promotor of super-six fighters Arthur Abraham and Mikkel Kessler, regarding Jermain Taylor's status in the super-six tournament.
"Jermain Taylor has been cleared to fight by the doctors so he can continue if he wants to", Sauerland says. He the adds that: "If Taylor doesn't want to continue we have 2 replacements lined up namely Allan Green and IBF champion Lucian Bute."
If Bute is to join he'll need to win his returnmatch with Librado Andrade later this month.
Stoppage 11-19-2009, 10:07 AM I read that Taylor said he's gonna continue in the tournament.
If he decides to drop out, though, it should be the winner of the Bute/Andrade rematch. Then they would be unifying three world titles.
Shadows 11-19-2009, 10:23 AM Bute getting in, should he win, would be nice.

Taylor should take a year long break from the sport and re-evaluate his desire to fight. He doesn't need the super-six. I and many others would hate to see him on the receiving end of yet another brutal KO.
Joe2608 11-19-2009, 10:41 AM Bute would be the best replacement, then they could unify. At the end of the day whoever wins the tournament is going to have to face the Bute/Andrade winner at the end of it anyways because 1 if those 2 will most likely have the IBF title by the time this tournament finishes.
Bigchill79 11-19-2009, 12:10 PM Hope its Lucian Bute if Taylor is out
Mugwump 11-19-2009, 05:39 PM Taylor needs to wake up and start thinking of his health. He's been put down heavily in his last two fights and probably lost a few million brain cells in the process. If he takes another KO he could well leave the ring on a stretcher.
-Boxzilla- 11-19-2009, 11:00 PM i really hope jt will step aside and take some time to rebuild and let bute in ... bute shoulda been in from day 1 anyways
Shadows 11-19-2009, 11:47 PM It's sort of funny.
When Ward was asked how does he feel being in the Super Six over the likes of Bute, Andrade, etc. he said he essentially it's out of his control, but Kalle jumped in and said that Ward was a gold medalist and that Bute was lucky to still be champion after the Andrade fight.
k0king 11-19-2009, 11:54 PM I read that HBO has a first/last option on Bute's next fight (after Andrade) which would make it pretty difficult for Showtime. I'm not saying that Showtime wouldn't be able to buy that option from HBO but in this sport it seems that the path of least resistance is almost always taken, and that path leads to Allan Green.
AndyShitHot 11-20-2009, 05:23 AM Did HBO sign Bute before the Super Six was announced cos it looked like they did it out of spite to stop Showtime from getting the best possible replacement if anyone was to pull out.
I can't see Bute being a replacement for Taylor anyway just for the simple fact that showtime would surely have to replace an American with an American replacement (ie Allan Green).
KrisSilver 11-23-2009, 07:14 PM I don't think anyones going to leave the tourney. It's too good an opportunity to make consistent good money and be in the mix. Taylor's not majorly likely to get KO'd again, he's had an awful line up of power punchers. He said he'd fight on and I respect that. He should perhaps avoid Kessler but all the other fights are at least winnable for him.
