Tough fights to call at cruiser or heavyweight.

Floyd, no doubt was the faster puncher (he has the fastest clocked heavyweight left hand in history)! He also is arguably the harder one punch hitter.

The areas where Holyfield has the advantage are workrate and punch resistance, Floyd was often a very slow starter and even moderate punchers were able to put him down.

I honestly dont think that Holyfield punched hard enough to do a Liston or Johannson on Floyd but I honestly think that Holyfield could score a late stoppage or grab a close decision. Floyd would have his moments I'm sure, his combinations could be blinding and if Bert Cooper's comparatively slow left hook could get Holyfield in serious trouble.......well you can guess what Floyd's could do, check out the final round of Johannson 2!

I think Holyfield would've worn Patterson down and knocked him out in about 8 or 9 rounds, maybe even earlier if he landed a good, flush shot.

Patterson had more power than Muhammad Ali.

I have never rated Holyfield's punch that highly, so I imagine Patterson will give him quite a bit of trouble, because Patterson would trouble just about anyone who can't punch him out inside a couple of rounds.

Figured I would ring in here. I'm somewhat of a fan of Patterson if it isn't obvious. Anyway, it depends on which Patterson we are talking about. Patterson is one of those fighters who started to develop a better chin the older he got. Not to mention the fact that he was only knocked out by 3 fighters in his career. Sonny Liston twice, Muhammad Ali by KO and TKO, and Ingemar Johannson. Liston and Johannson were known to be murderous punchers, Liston was also a great all around fighter, Johannson kinda one dimensional. The Ali fights ended more due to accumulation of punches.

Remember Patterson fought tough fighters like Archie Moore, Eddie Machen, George Chuvalo, Jerry Quarry, Oscar Bonavena, Henry Cooper, among others, and most of those named have the power close too or surpassing Holyfield. So I say that the chin isn't a factor.

Secondly, it's obvious that the speed belongs to Patterson, second quickest heavyweight under Ali.

Stamina may tilt a little into Holyfield's corner, but was his unbelievable stamina due to his modern training, probably. Give the same training to Patterson, and I would say it is pretty equal.

And finally heart. Patterson once said, "I may have been knocked down more than any other heavyweight champ, but I have gotten up more than any other heavyweight champ." Enough said.

And everybody knows Holyfield had more heart than anybody should have. He never gave up.

The only problem with Patterson depended on whether or not he was afraid. He was scared stiff against Liston, he was basically beat before he entered the ring. Some fighters were able to get lucky against him, but if Patterson was on his A game, he would've given Holyfield hell.

Both like to brawl Patterson had amazing hand speed and very good power for his size he could last the 15 rounds distance well, Holyfield was very strong for his size a good combination puncher and had a very good chin. I think at cruiserweight this would have been a very good fight i think Holyfields chin might have been the deciding factor but if Patterson was smart he would have a chance.

Holyfield.... beated fighters such as qawi etc and floyd got easily KOd twice by liston in the first round and also holyfield is the only 4 time heavyweight champion ever...

Floyd Patterson is getting underrated here, he was never a Heavyweight. And was far too small for the division, the fact he was still able to do as well as he did just shows how great he is.

At Cruiserweight this would be very interesting, and Floyd Patterson's peak a boo style would trouble Evander Holyfield. And remember Floyd Patterson was a very explosive puncher, who also had underrated stamina.

I say Floyd Patterson pulls off the upsets in the 1st meeting, but loses the rematch.

Thats how I think it would play out too. Be a helluva fight though.

I think Pattersons style could cause Holyfield some problems, but any way I look at this I see Holyfield stopping Patterson.

Good match up.. Providing that Patterson can keep his chin out the way, then I believe he has the handspeed and movement to win quite comfortably, but in reality would he be able to do this?.. I'm afraid I'll be a doubting Thomas on this one.
