View Full Version : Looks like Ward's people picked their opponent better this time neils7147933 04-07-2005, 08:18 PM the guy's 32 years old, has 4 fights, O KO's...that Kenny Kost fight must have taught them not to be so ambitious. If he has had a 15 year layoff, That is just whack. neils7147933 04-07-2005, 08:22 PM That is borderline ridiculous. A bad show for all 3 people who will watch it nonetheless. Fox Sports better get Bowe in the ring before they lose their viewers... Truth 04-07-2005, 10:45 PM I think Andre Ward will be a great fighter one day thats why I will watch. Tha Greatest 04-08-2005, 01:13 AM I know the guy Ward fought was a bum but it gives him a lot of experience and when that guy basically threw Ward down for a sec i thought Ward got caught with a punch, i was like WTF! then i saw that it wasnt a punch U guys ever realise every one of Wards opponents tried to intimidate him Truth 04-08-2005, 08:02 AM I know the guy Ward fought was a bum but it gives him a lot of experience and when that guy basically threw Ward down for a sec i thought Ward got caught with a punch, i was like WTF! then i saw that it wasnt a punch U guys ever realise every one of Wards opponents tried to intimidate him To me Ward is going to get better and better with every fight. When Bernard Hopkins leaves boxing Jermain Taylor will probably take over as champ at 160 but he better watch out for Andre Ward. Ward is not there yet but I think he will get there sooner than expected. tri4ben2 04-08-2005, 08:42 AM The guy Ward fought had no chance of winning by boxing so he just brawled and created a ruckus all night until the fight was stopped. I liked when the ref said "you are on national TV fight like professionals" Or when he said "if you don't stop, I will take a point away from both of you guys" Alpha Male 04-08-2005, 09:22 AM I know the guy Ward fought was a bum but it gives him a lot of experience and when that guy basically threw Ward down for a sec i thought Ward got caught with a punch, i was like WTF! then i saw that it wasnt a punch U guys ever realise every one of Wards opponents tried to intimidate him To call him a bum is a gross understatement. This guy had no business being in the ring. He must have thought he was in a UFC fight hitting him while he was down like that. What a moron, but this is much needed experience for Ward. This will help him develop into a world class fighter. outofit 04-08-2005, 11:39 AM that guy sucked more than a feather weight ruiz masterdirector 04-08-2005, 02:20 PM I hate it when any new guys, even guys I don't like, come in and people jump all over them for fighting bums. Of course they're going to fight bums for a while. If even their first 20 fights are bums, I don't hold that against them. After about 20 though, they need to really start stepping up the competition. Probably less than 20 these days, but 20 is still fine. Give Ward time. Of course they're going to pick opponents for him. Why feed your fighter to a guy that has more experience and would probably beat your fighter right now? Especially if your fighter, given experience, could probably beat that guy. This topic comes off as criticism to Ward, maybe it isn't meant that way, but it seems so. Now, if Ward is still fighting this calibur opponent in a year or two, yeah, I'll be right along with anybody else. Bombardier 04-08-2005, 02:24 PM Most fighter don't get this much attention from day 1. You might see their early fights but as undercards on FNF or something. Thing is The Best Damn Sport Show is using him as a feature, even if he's the undercard fight. So people are expecting his opposition to be higher quality than it should be at this point. Hats off to RJJ for getting his man so much airtime this early on. It's an easy sell with Olympic hero Ward, of course, but since he's not that experienced as a promoter it's still impressive. masterdirector 04-08-2005, 08:54 PM Whatever. The 2000 Olypians and 96 Olympians got plenty of exposure themselves, 92 Olympians, etc. Olympians get more exposure. Ward hasn't received anywhere near the exposure that the 2000 Olypians got. Damn, I still refer to half of them as "the olympians." Like Diaz, Bojado, Vinson, Abduallaev, etc. Amazing that they debuted 4 or so years ago now. Doesn't seem that long. Give Ward time. Some are acting like they wanna see him taking on ****ing Ruben Williams, Marcus Beyer, Echols, etc. He hasn't been pro even a year yet, damn, give him time. |
