Boxer more than just the first woman to die in the ring

By JOHN MARSHALL, AP Sports Writer
April 5, 2005
DENVER (AP) -- It was the kind of blow that occurs thousands of times in boxing matches across the country: In the third round of a women's bout, Becky Zerlentes took a shot to the head above her left eye, then staggered forward and fell to the canvas.

Only this time, Zerlentes never regained consciousness and died, becoming the first female boxer to die in a sanctioned event.

The death stunned those who knew Zerlentes, a 34-year-old college instructor remembered as a fun-loving, adventurous person who had a particular fondness for sports.

My bad then.
Derame cerebral I think means a vain got popped in his brain causing internal bleeding.

Its a shame but people will die whatever they do, i'm sure someone will die this week from something simple like falling over.

I hate the bad reputation boxing gets from these accidents, boxing saves a lot of more lives than it takes.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. :D

Seriously, some people i've know have matured so much faster because they box, i think they learnt respect quicker and stopped all the bull**** street fighting.

Actually dying in bed is the a really honorable death. The family really doesn't suffer as bad because they know that you didn't feel any pain or suffering because you were sleeping. Dying in the ring is terrible. Imagine how you would feel if your relative died like this.
