In an interview with TMZ.com, UFC boss Dana White confirmed that Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar is headed to the Mayo Clinic and will require major surgery. White wouldn't elaborate much on Lesnar's condition, but has ruled out cancer. White said Lesnar has an intestinal disorder.

White said in the interview that he is attempting to get Lesnar transferred to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Lesnar is presently in a North Dakota hospital.

White also said that there was a "possibility" that Lesnar's career is over.

Hope the dude gets better, I know a lot of people have beef with his antics but every sport needs villains and his wrestling caliber is definitely second to none in the sport.

Huge loss, I would rather see him continue to compete and test himself rather than leave still rather green with a 4-1 record.

I agree. I wasn't particularly fond of the guy but I was starting to think he was the real deal. It's a shame to see him go down like that. I hope he can bounce back.

I've heard people mentioning roid use being responsible. Do you guys think that is what's causing his condition? The fact that he used them and now maybe his immune system is weak? It seems plausible enough.

I would imagine a guy like Brock who doesn't spend too much time around people could develop something seeing how now he is in the public eye more than ever and is constantly training with new sparring partners. I've also read that Minnesota natives have some of the weakest immune systems in our country as most viruses cannot survive the cold temperatures there leaving the people without natural immunity.

Just a thought though.

Off topic, but I'm just sick of people saying this. He's a very good wrestling, who relies heavily on strength. He is not the best wrestler in the sport.

Randy Couture, Mark Coleman, Dan Henderson, Matt Lindland, King Mo, Joe Warren are all better wrestlers to name a few.

He's never failed a drug test that I know of and in that old story about his arrest for dealing roids the charges were dropped after finding out that they were if fact not roids at all just some sort of supplements.

He does flip the hell out whenever a interviewer ask about them though lol.

It was growth hormone, not some kind of supplement (his agent called it a 'vitamin type thing' but his agent was characteristically full of **** it would seem).

They are, respectively, but with Lesnar's wrestling caliber doubled with his size and strength, can you find someone better suited to double-leg a heavyweight fighter in MMA? I've searched, because I despise Lesnar's antics and personality, but you really can't.

I would say Mark Coleman is a superior leg takedown artist (of course he's old now). As I said, Brock is a very good wrestler but there have been many great wrestlers in MMA. Coleman is a former olympian in Freestyle, as well as a former top colegiant from Ohio State. Lesnar cannot hold a candle to Coleman's wrestling credentials imo.

The best wrestler in MMA is a guy who didn't even start wrestling until after he started fighting. GSP has the best takedowns in MMA hands down. Sakuraba has the best single leg takedown. Hendo and Linland both hold higher pedigrees in wrestling than Brock as well....

If we are talking purely takedowns for the purpose of MMA, there is an argument for GSP. However, sport wrestling is not the same as takedowns in MMA. There are many more dynamics involved to taking someone down when they are strictly in a wrestling situation, not to mention the various aspects of sport wrestling (which vary by style).

So HGH wasn't illegal at the time or what?

Here's the story.
Brock Lesnar, the World Wrestling Entertainment champion, was once arrested for illegally possessing steroids, though the felony charge against the 26-year-old athlete was dismissed four months after his January 2001 arrest. Lesnar, pictured in the below mug shot, was popped by Louisville Division of Police detectives after receiving and opening a parcel that cops said contained a "large amount of steroids." Lesnar, a 295-pound former college wrestling champ, was in Kentucky training at a WWE facility. Hit with a trafficking in controlled substances charge, Lesnar was exonerated when tests showed that the seized pills were not, in fact, steroids. While a Louisville detective told TSG that the material was some kind of growth hormone, Lesnar's defense attorney, Scott Cox, characterized the confiscated pills as a "vitamin type of thing." According to Cox, officers seemed "very apologetic" when lab results cleared Lesnar. It is unclear how investigators concluded that the parcel sent to Lesnar may have contained illicit substances.

Yeah, without a doubt there are.

Brock may not be the greatest P4P wrestler in the sport, credential-wise, but he poses a threat that even a prime Coleman couldn't. He's ridiculously big and strong, Coleman may be able to beat him on the mat (I wouldn't trust a hope that he could pin Lesnar, either. He was only beaten once in Division 1 if I remember correctly and it was points), but he's certainly not outwrestling or outmuscling him in the cage.

Couture was doing a pretty good job wrestling-wise against Brock for as long as it lasted. There isn't really enough to go on based on his limited number of fights, but my honest impression is that Brock's wrestling is a bit overrated.

7 time NCAA champ? It is not even possible to win it more than 4 times.

Brock spent his first 2 years of college at Jr. College and won the Division 1 title his senior year.

he must have spent another 5 years in university of minnesota because i've heard him advertised as 7 time champ, i was shaking my head at that one, too, i woudn't be proud of spending 7 years in university and only getting a bachelor's degree, lolz

It's not possible. You only get 4 years of eligibility to compete in college sports. It is possible to redshirt your freshman year (practice but not compete) and then compete for 4 years, therein spending 5 years in college.

As for Brock Lesnar, he was a Jr. College champ who spent 2 years at the University of Minnesota, becoming an NCAA division champ his senior year (1x).

That's something that was spewed around during his WWE career to build the hype... They still call Mark Henry the "world's strongest man", and he never even won any major weightlifting titles.
