View Full Version : SKY takes the P**S
ibnabdullah 11-15-2009, 09:25 AM They didn't even show the post-fight interviews. And the commentators are just awful.
And does anyone else get the impression that Nicky Piper hates Jonny Nelson?
Clegg 11-15-2009, 09:27 AM I thought the commentary was very good, but not seeing the entrances and interviews was ****.
LiamNO1 11-15-2009, 09:32 AM I seen the entrances like, however i was pissed when i stayed up till 5 am and i didnt hear what the pacman had to say.
Joe2608 11-15-2009, 09:36 AM Their broadcast is usually wank for most boxing.
The Gully Gad 11-15-2009, 10:05 AM Yeh usually the post fight interviews come on way after piper and rubber johnny have finished chatting ****...
Glad i streamed it...
Pretty Boy32 11-15-2009, 10:06 AM They are joke,
I was so pissed off there was no post fight interviews shown!
I was dying to see them!
Dont **** I didnt have to pay for that wank
mrboxer 11-15-2009, 02:16 PM you did not miss much of the entrance, what does the entrance have to do with anything, are they scored on a ten point must system,i do not care how they get in the ring as long as they make it fast, you think i am going to be glued to a tv while overpaid boxers try to make a grand entrance into a ring and i did not listen to any interviews i do not have to hear it from cotto how he should of done this or he should of done that,he should of done it in the ring, and i dont need to here pac talking like he just beat a great fighter or roach talking like he is the guy fighting:boxing:
Shanks 11-16-2009, 03:13 PM to air a 3 hour broadcast and not show the interviews at the end is scandalous
The Noose 11-16-2009, 03:42 PM I watched SKY for the first time in a long time, and i couldnt wait to download the HBO version.
SKY was ok, but they just arent nearly as good at covering all the facts, the interviews, in between round translations. Its just not very good coverage compared to HBO.
Never been a fan of Nicky Piper as a analyst. Where the fudge was McGuigan?
killerajh 11-16-2009, 03:45 PM to air a 3 hour broadcast and not show the interviews at the end is scandalous
I was disapointed to not get interviews after, but the interviews were shown with the replays on Sunday.
However atleast we got a good amount of the undercard compared to some ppv that have been on.
Plus jim watt should be banned from saying "this is getting sickening now" it was by no means the most grusome fight I've seen.
Wesker115 11-17-2009, 06:12 AM How much was the PPV? I was downloaded it and watched it yesterday and was appalled that the broadcast ended so abruptly after the 12th round. And I didn't even pay for it!
steeluv 11-17-2009, 06:24 AM How much was the PPV? I was downloaded it and watched it yesterday and was appalled that the broadcast ended so abruptly after the 12th round. And I didn't even pay for it!
It wasn't PPV on Sky but on regular Sky Sports, but the bunch of non experts are crap, I just love HBO, Sentanta was much nicer than Sky when it came to boxing me thinks
The Noose 11-17-2009, 07:18 AM Plus jim watt should be banned from saying "this is getting sickening now" it was by no means the most grusome fight I've seen.
Maybe if u were at ringside u might also find it sickening, or at least unpleasant.
Leave Watt alone u bullies!!:crying:
Bobby Shaw 11-17-2009, 08:12 AM They didn't even show the post-fight interviews. And the commentators are just awful.

To be honest I really hate SKY,it's just unfortunate they have a monopoly over some things. The guys lost it around 2003,they changed ever since that Murdock boy became the CEO (even though he's finally left).I actually cancelled my subscription back then because of that. They started treating boxing with contempt.Setanta were the saviours of boxing because they started showing all the Top Rank fights & most of the other fights. That was when SKY started showing more boxing again as a defensice strategy.Even ITV started showing more boxing. Now that Setanta's gone bust,ITV announced they wont be showing boxing next year and expect Sky to show very little boxing. The little they will show will either be delayed or they will be badly covered.
Not showing ring entrances and post fight interviews is short changing us.Back in the day they would even show fighters arriving at the arena, remember when Floyd was fighting Baldomir and the coverage was great. You would watch the guys hitting the pads and great interviews to get everyone hyped up.Now it's pathetic, they are more willing to show us their pathetic panel talking trash than showing us the goings on at the arena.
Check with football or rugby, they start broadcasting long before the match. They show interviews, guys training and then the match. They even show the teams arriving in their coaches. After the match everyone wants to know what the winners have to say and what the losers have to say. That's what sport is all about,it's an experience.Taking away those aspects makes the sport less enjoyable.
King_Lukas 11-17-2009, 08:39 AM Sentanta was much nicer than Sky when it came to boxing me thinks
Couldnt dis-agree more, Setanta were Calzaghe nuthuggers to sickening proportions, and they had a scrambled screen throughout the entirity of the Haye v Maccerenelli undercard and fight, no refunds, no sorrys...NOTHING!!
I Laughed when they went bust and dance on their graves.
Sky coverage was exceptionally poor by the standards they set for other sports and how I wish we could get HBO over here in England.
Kjryan 11-17-2009, 10:06 AM ya sky were a joke sat nite, i waited and waited and no interview with pacman... would it have killed them 2 run the show 10 mins longer and show it, especially at that hour????
Ben_London 11-17-2009, 10:43 AM Can't stand their coverage, only McCrory is barely worth listening to, the others are terrible.
They're terrible. Really bad coverage.
The punditry team are incredibly boring and even more biased towards home fighters than the other networks. They never really say anything interesting or insightful either - I could do just as good a job saying what they're saying.
The commentry duo are my biggest qualm - Jim Watt in particular. He's just a grumpy old bastard and of no use whatsoever except to put an annoying Scottish accent over the fight you're enjoying. Can't remember the last time I agreed with his scoring of a fight either.
And as you say, the fact that they cut out post fight interviews and such just so we can hear their vapid opinions really sucks some of the atmosphere out of an event.
I wish Sky would just directly broadcast the American coverage.
dantheman1983 11-17-2009, 11:37 AM Barry Mc wasn't on it because he's on ITV, I wish he was, spoke to him at Twickenham.
The panel really are ****, would rather listen to the ITV team anyday. At least it wasn't pay per view. Thank god for streams.

he was pissing me the **** off.
mrboxer 11-17-2009, 12:32 PM sky knows their announcers are very dull and boring that is why they try to eliminate them from the broadcast as much as possible,i am tuned in to watch the fight i do not want to see any clowning of boxers entering the ring and i do not want to listen to any interview before or after fight interview of any boxer:beerchug:

qft!:boxing:
Leakbeak 11-17-2009, 08:18 PM They didn't show the anthems either which is all part of the bigfight build up. Nobody wants to hear them talk ****e, they want to see what the fighters have to say. The worse thing is SSN showed Floyd Jr the very next morning, referring to The Pacman dodging his questions in the post-fight interview!!!!!! They still didn't show it then on SSN, so how the **** would the public know what Floyd was on about???!??!?!?!?!!?
