czars_salad 04-05-2005, 09:12 AM who will win?
as the nba regular season draws to end, who do you think will capture this year's MVP?
i go for Steve Nash
SonnyG8R 04-05-2005, 09:17 AM I think the Heat will win it all this year.
czars_salad 04-05-2005, 09:20 AM I think the Heat will win it all this year.
i think they have the tools to make it... does it mean you go for O'Neal as the MVP?

Well he probably is the most valuable member to his team. Without him the Heat would have no chance.
dafrza3 04-05-2005, 09:26 AM Shaq.
just look at the heat. and look at the lakers.
Nuff said!
czars_salad 04-05-2005, 09:39 AM Well he probably is the most valuable member to his team. Without him the Heat would have no chance.
we all know that, but his numbers this year are rather inconsistent as compared to other big men like Garnett and Duncan. Individual numbers are also great considerations as well as team performance.
Steve Nash is the best player today, though i doubt the Suns will win it this year. Look at his team. You have about 6 to 7 players you can score from 15 to 30 a night and without a pointguard who can orchestrate the team, the Suns would be a disaster. last year, they were the whipping boys of the league, with the acquisition of Nash, the team went berserk.
Heat wins the trophy but Steve Nash goes home with the MVP statuette

There has always been a question about what the MVP represents. Is it the "best player" or the "Most Valuable Player" or the "Player with the best stats for that season".
czars_salad 04-05-2005, 09:55 AM There has always been a question about what the MVP represents. Is it the "best player" or the "Most Valuable Player" or the "Player with the best stats for that season".
it's both a subjective and an objective award
subjective in the sense that it represents a vague interpretation on the great value of a player in his team and how his presence contributed to the overall performance of the team. Shaq is a very valuable player to the cause of the Heat, and for all the teams he played. Steve Nash is, i think, more valuable, subjectively, in the sense that his court generalship enabled his team, consisting of erratic, flamboyant players, to work as one. Shaq is, on the other hand, surrounded with more mature players who can both play outstanding defense and offense without much trouble. the degree of difficulty goes to Nash.
objective interpretation goes to the statistics these players put on the floor every game. As far as I know Nash leads all players in terms of statistics as of this time.
oldgringo 04-05-2005, 11:21 AM 1. Shaquille O'Neal
1a. Steve Nash
A.I. hands down.
There is no argument as far as I am concerned. He is a 1 man show. I dont buy into this "Winning Team" mentality. They will make the playoffs nonetheless.
Nash, Shaq, Duncan, Nowitski, all surrounded by worlds of talent.
Allen Iverson has been playing a MVP season so far though his teams position will probably cost him the award. Tim Duncan has to be mentioned as usual but I think his injury will throw him out of the mix. Shaq is not carrying his team, he's a valuable player but the Heats MVP is Dwayne Wade. No way he's winning it this year. Nash is playing a brilliant season but he's got an incredible supporting cast in Amare, Marion and Q. Overall I think Iverson deserves it. However they might give it to LeBron because he's their up and coming poster boy.
And it's Nowitzki not Nowitski btw.
UnstoppableOne 04-05-2005, 04:32 PM The MVP is going to go to.....Ron Artest (Woohoo Go Ron!!)
Just kidding its gunna be Steve Nash.
He will be the MVP because look at their record last year dont know it off the top of my head but it was abysmal. This season they have the top record in the whole league at 56-17! As someone else pointed out yea Nash does have talent surrounding him, but where were they last year?? No where, they weren't a team. Now they are the team to beat..
Iverson is having a phenomenal year although he can't carry the team like he did before I still see him as their top player and althought he is getting a lot of assists and trying to be that team player everyone wants him to be, its just not enough. The Sixers also have talent Dalembert is a good player and so is Iguodala is good and will be alot better in the future and now they have Webber who is a legitimate scoring threat.
Hope this thread continues!
Peace...
The Fix 04-05-2005, 04:38 PM shaq got the mvp this year, he further proved in miami that the championships in L.A were only cause of him. kobe and his lakers are heading to the lottery while shaq could win another title.

Yes A.I.'s 2 for 21 nights that he has once a week are quite impressive (sarcasm)
neils7147933 04-05-2005, 09:00 PM LeBron's the best player in the league, Duncan and O'Neal are right there too, but all the MVP hype seems to be going Steve Nash's way...

1. allen iverson will not win the MVP because his team is terrible
2. i agree with you regarding shaq and the heat. i think shaq is very cautious this year, while Wade is playing one hell of a season, with tremendous compliments from Eddie Jones
3. Nash deserves to win the MVP because of his leadership and all-around skills. to lead a team with flamboyant players, almost all want to score 50 or more points, is an incredible achievement more than his own statistical points. getting Amare Stoudamire and Shawn Marion, etc, play like a valuable part of a well-oiled machine is exeptional.
hodgepodge 04-10-2005, 02:23 AM shaq will win mvp... kobe probably wishes he never left.. hahahah what a loser!!!!

Shawn Marion isn't a flashy flamboyant scorer. He does almost EVERYTHING well on the court and can play both ways. In fact, he probably has the ugliest jumper in the league...
Part of the reason that the Suns are so flashy is because of Nash if you have forgotten.
xrhythmxnxbluesx 04-21-2005, 12:42 AM shaq got it mann... i believe in the shaqbino curse...
UnstoppableOne 04-21-2005, 01:35 AM dwane wade is miami heat's MVP
You see em play without Shaq?? Noticed any difference?? Yea, they BLOW without Shaq...Simple, they got used to the Big Aristotle... :D
THRILLAinmanila 04-21-2005, 01:40 AM My sentimental favorite is Steve Nash. He's brought the Suns to the best win-loss record in the regular season. He deserves to win it :)

Yeah, I guess. Who knows, a joint-MVP award perhaps ??

I'm leaning towards nash but o'neal is o'neal. I think miami will go all the way to the championship because of him. I wonder what the lakers management are thinking right now for sticking with Kobe and kicking out jackson and shaq at the same time. Hahahahahaha!!! They didn't make it to the play off for their stingkin decision! :D

Yup. And usually the big guys get more media votes. Nash' Canadian nationality might also be a handicap for the guy.
The Lakers should have given up Kobe instead of Shaq in the first place. Now they're paying dearly for their mistake

i don't think nash will be judged with biases on his nationality. the guy had just dominated the game. he had just proven more than enough
