Squirrel 11-14-2009, 10:50 AM Roy Jones was first in my head but after further thought: Pernell Whitaker. His flexability, agility and reactions were off the scale. Literally unbelievable. NO ONE looked good agaisnt him. mrboxer 11-14-2009, 10:54 AM evander holyfield, did you see those moves on that dance show he was on:poke: Obama 11-14-2009, 11:03 AM Shane Mosley. Even in old age the guy is a physical beast. I can't recall a 38 year old as fast as him, who still has very good legs. ANIMOSITY 11-14-2009, 11:49 AM roy jones easy, basketball, tennis, football, he can do it all Shane Mosley. Even in old age the guy is a physical beast. I can't recall a 38 year old as fast as him, who still has very good legs. it's easy to look good against punching bags like margarito watch jones-lacy(P.S, jones is 40 and at light heavyweight) sonnyboyx2 11-14-2009, 02:17 PM Cassius Clay - he should have been a 400m hurdler TheGreatA 11-14-2009, 02:32 PM I believe Ken Norton was a very talented athlete. Obama 11-14-2009, 05:43 PM it's easy to look good against punching bags like margarito watch jones-lacy(P.S, jones is 40 and at light heavyweight) You ABSOLUTELY CANNOT compare a prime Margarito to a past it Jeff Lacy. Lacy hasn't been relevant since 2005. Margarito was a top 10 p4p fighter when Mosley beat him. And PS, Jones still doesn't have legs. He would never beat a LHW version of Margarito. Hell, he wouldn't even beat Chris Henry. That pressure style is made to destroy the current version of Roy. This is absolutely not how you beat Shane Mosley however. Sugarj 11-14-2009, 05:53 PM Hell, there has been some amazing athletes in boxing over the years. Peak Roy Jones gets my vote but a few others that deserve a mention are: Meldrick Taylor Ray Leonard Ray Robinson boxing fanatic 11-14-2009, 05:57 PM I would say ali he had hand speed foot speed and a punishing jab and changed boxing forever only other fighter to fight this way was ray robinson but ali did it on a bigger scale.all time yeah ali:boxing: S31KOU 11-14-2009, 05:59 PM Roy Jones he seemed to have all of the natural abilities speed power footspeed stamina he was a beast hookoutofhell 11-14-2009, 06:05 PM ken norton was very gifted, ali and of course SRR were also blessed. of recent times rjj, ssm and whittaker stand out, to a lesser extent i think hamed and pacman also deserve a mention of the current crop of young boxers i think jean pascal and gamboa are very gifted blaze778 11-14-2009, 06:11 PM I say Jones, but I can see how people would choose Whitaker. I think Whitaker had better balance and flexibility, but Jones was pretty close. The reason I pick Jones is because he was more powerful, explosive, reactive and his speed was pretty close to Pernell. I'd pick those two guys in recent memory. As far as nowadays, Froch and Valuev, lol. BOX-A-LOT 11-14-2009, 06:27 PM Who is the most athletic boxer to ever lace up a pair of gloves? In my opinion, it's Roy Jones. This is a neck and neck competition. But, I'll go with Roy Jones Jr. and Pernell, Floyd Jr. , SRL, SRR, f**k man they're pretty f**kin' gifted |
