Spartacus Sully 11-13-2009, 03:44 AM Id reccomend you lean Judo sambo krav magaw savate boxing bjj jj wrestling karate pankration and chinese boxing. Junito-Rulez 11-13-2009, 05:58 AM Muay Thai and Submission Wrestling( grappling)are the two best backgrounds for MMA if you wanna be able to be survive in an MMA showdown. If you want to be really good, you need to train in Jiujitsu. A judo/ wrestling training is important in order to not get taken down at will too. Right now i think i could do OK in an MMA tournament coz i know a lil bit of jiujitsu and i have a boxing background. If they put me against someone really good and well trained, i would tap in 2 minutes. My groundgame sucks. MMA is much tougher than it looks; it requires probably less quality of skill than boxing( standing up) but an insane amount of different skills. Spartacus Sully 11-13-2009, 06:09 AM the most important art involved in MMA is the art of training. Pecs 11-13-2009, 07:56 AM Assuming that we are not talking about being the next Fedor or GSP, i would say Muay Thai and Wrestling (with takedown defence). With those two, you are pretty covered, besides the risk of getting submitted lol!. Syf 11-13-2009, 11:22 AM the most important art involved in MMA is the art of training. I can go along with that. Too many people depend on style and not personal dedication to the physicality aspect. Gotta be in fighting form.. kaps 11-13-2009, 11:56 AM A striking art combinded with a grappling art and lots of cardio... cupuzz 11-15-2009, 03:35 AM Muay Thai and BJJ For Real life, i think KRAV MAGA/Marine corps martial arts gorasikawannabe 11-16-2009, 07:21 AM Muay Thai and BJJ For Real life, i think KRAV MAGA/Marine corps martial arts Don't believe the hype! Krav Maga is a load of wank designed to save time and money. When they teach it to public it is then used to make money! They'll charge an arm and a leg but the bums can't fight. One right hand and the London instructor was KO'd by a boxer. True Story! For real life: boxing For sport: boxing For fun: boxing For fitness: boxing GroundSt.Pound 11-16-2009, 08:10 PM Wrestling base. Followed by whatever else. For real life: boxing For sport: boxing For fun: boxing For fitness: boxing Mmm, boxing is good but not like that. Fitness (probably kickboxing, total body movement), real life something with a ground game, sport is what you want, fun is what you want. RwK 11-17-2009, 01:51 AM Wrestling base. Followed by whatever else. Only smart people read this. Because yeah. The most important aspect of MMA is grappling. You need to know how to defend a takedown (Which comes with wrestling) and know how to submit your man( comes with wrestling) Learning low center of gravity. You need to know how to defend a takedown (Which comes with wrestling) and know how to submit your man( comes with wrestling) Learning low center of gravity. Wrestlers don't actually train submissions and are known for being vulnerable to them because of lack of experience. That said, a wrestler trained in subs is very formidable. StillUnknown 11-17-2009, 03:00 AM wrestling will allow you to dictate where the fight takes place at the very least you need so know how to defend submissions to compliment the wrestling so you're not in danger when it hits the ground Grand Champ 11-17-2009, 06:14 AM If I can only pick one, I would choose BJJ. seems to be best for mma dave777 11-17-2009, 06:20 AM Its called mixed martial arts for a reason. Elemental Fist 11-19-2009, 02:54 PM Ground base (wrestling or submission base) is a good start but then you need to gain/have experiance in striking art like Kickboxing or Boxing. There are not a lot of MMA fighters who have a good boxing background. |
