Well another baseball season is upon us. The greatest current rivalry in sports Yankees-red Sox play tonight at the Stadium, game to be shown on ESPN.

Are there any other Baseball fans out there and if so wht teams do you like?

I've been Yankees fan pretty much since birth. I was born about ten miles from Yankee Stadium and my pops brought me to many games as a child. I once got to meet Thurman Munson who will always be my favorite Yankee. I have fond memories of the 77-78 Yanks and even the 76 team that lost to the Big Red Machine. I suffered through the lean years of the 80's and early 90's. It was great to see Buck Showalter build the team back up in the mid 90's and I was thrilled when Torre took over and turned them into a dynasty in mid-late 90's, and 2000.

I think the Yanks will bring the glory back to the Bronx this year, but they will have their hands full with the Red Sox. As for the Sox. Now that they have finally won their first ring in 86 years I think they will begin another humiliating streak of futility. :p

I have my eye on the Twins in the AL, and definitely on the Cardinals in the NL. Pujols is going to have another stellar year, as is Hunter.

My eye on Ichiro as well.

....Reds fan here, and I remember that World Series against the Yankees very well. An even more memorable series was the one in the 90's when the Reds crushed the invincible A's with the steroid brothers(Conseco and Mac). People were calling for the A's to sweep the Reds and the Reds swept the A's and shocked everyone.

I have my eye on the Twins too cause I am from Minnesota. The moves they make just piss me off! We always do just enough to win! Keep some players and we can win it all you cheap prick Carl Pohlad!

Do you know if they still got Bryan Buchanon? He used to play for the Twins and had a ton of power potential.

Ooh the Tiggies looked great today. Bonderman is a stud and Dmitri has a hot bat. This is going to be an interesting year.

You are a wise man Assasin. But don't sweat last year. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once every 86 years. :p

my team is the twins, i love the way torri hunter plays all out.
they have been a solid team for a while. they have very good pitching and santana should make a run to repeat as the cy young winner. now with the playing field becoming even with the steriod useage going down, i think teams like the twins who use speed more than power will become even more competitive.

my award predictions

AL MVP- gary sheffield

AL CY YOUNG- johan santana/randy johnson

NL MVP- with bonds out ill take pujols but wouldnt be surprised if andruw jones has a big year

NL CY YOUNG- jason schmidt

I'll be kool with either the Yankee's or the Marlins winning this year, and it'd be great if both met for the World Seris again.

The Marlins have a very good team this year. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see them make it to the Series again. They've really done a heck of a job in their short history. With a solid owner and new stadium they could be a force for years to come.

i think the marlins have a great line up but they are paying too much for delgado... i hope that bites them in the ass cause i hate seeing the same teams in the ws year in and year out.

I love Baseball and have been watching since I was 6 years old. Hard to be as fanatical with all the kids running around, but I give it the old college try.

I'm a fan of your California Angels.

2002 was sweet and a long time coming. I was at game seven and cryed like a little ***** :o

Wow, that must have been awesome. I hate Bonds and the Giants so I was rooting for the Angels that year. I also cheered for them back in 85 I think it was when they had Reggie.

2002 was almost surreal. My wife bought me game seven tix as a gift. I didn't know I was going until the last out of game six. My wife and duaghter were jumping around as if they gave a **** about baseball. I was very confused until the wife handed over the field level tix right at the first base bag. How sweet it is!!!! During the game itself, I never sat down and was never able to hear anything except the cheering. Couldn't even talk to my buddy who went with me. When Lofton sent the lazy fly to center and Ersty waited for it...that moment seemed to last forever. I'll never forget it as long as I live. (well, until Alzheimers sets in)

we won't speak of 1986...

i have never seen a live baseball game. the reason: baseball is not that popular here in the phils. have you seen the movie "for the love of the game?" was it like that in a real baseball game? i know it's the no.1 sports in the u.s., but if it happens in a movie, is it really like that in the real sport? or the movie was a little exaggerated? kevin costner or billy chappel really doesn't like the yankees in that movie.

Actually Football has surpassed Baseball as the #1 sport in the US but Baseball is still pretty big. I'm not sure if I saw the movie you asked about. Baseball is a somewhat slow moving game which is the complaint form some. It is a thinking man's game with lots of strategy. You have to be aware of the situation on every pitch. Oh, and lots of people have "Yankee Envy". It goes with the territory when you are the best team in professional sport history. :D

Yankees were stupid ****s for getting rid of Soriano. That guy'll be in the top 10 by next year if not this year. Kenny Lofton was done ****ing 8 years ago! Why do teams keep paying him? He's the Grant Hill of baseball. Name recognition means nothing if you aren't good anymore.

Dusty Baker pissed me off back when he coached the Giants. He put Lofton in over Shinjo even though Shinjo was a better player on all levels. Shinjo hit better, fielded A HELL OF A LOT better, and was significantly faster. I think Shinjo probably ended up on some crappy team where he won't get to shine.

Is Bernie Williams back again Sonny? Hope not. Dude needs to check out already.

Soriano is a very good offensive second baseman. But he's not as good as A-Rod. Bernie is in the last year of his contract.

Soriano isn't as good yet. But he's close enough for the salary he was getting compared to A-rod. And he sure as hell still has a better career with the Yanks than A-rod does so far. Though that'll probably change soon.

Man, Shinjo is gone. Awww...he probably went back to Japan.

Soriano ****ing blows in the playoffs...he strikes out all of the time. Great regular season 30/30 threat, horrible playoff player.

Soriano swings at pitches 3 feet over his head and all the pitchers know it now. The book on nhim is simple. Don't throw strikes. He'll swing anyway.
