Official Aussie Lounge thread for discussion of Cotto v Pacquiao.

Only a couple more days to go. Who's gonna be watching? Who will win?

My thoughts: I think Pacquiao will win by unaminous decision.

I don't think Manny will be able to knockout Cotto. Cotto is tough, has a good chin and has faced guys who hit harder than Manny. I also think he has too much pride to go down, he'll still be standing at the end of the fight.

I think Cotto will struggle to land his power shots against the fleet-footed Pacquiao. The way I see it, Cotto will need a KO to win this fight. I don't think he has a chance if it goes to the judges. Manny is fast and throws punches in bunches, which are great for racking up points on the scorecards.

I think this fight ends Manny's knockout streak, but not his sensational run.

I'm not really paying much attention to what anybody is predicting the outcome of this fight would be.It is too hard to tell at this time without knowing what the size difference is come fight night.
If Cotto comes in a lot heavier, I think he could be too big , too strong for pac, and manhandle him
Fck, if he handled Mosley who is as quick and more powerful, imagine what he will do to Pac.
Otherwise this fight could be a draw if they are of similar weight.

i am going to be watching from a bar, they are having 2 for 1 chicken wing specials and the pitchers of beer[molson canadian]are under $10.00,we called the owner in advance this time around and told him to stock up on the wings and the beer for the last fight haye valuev they ran out of stock, there was almost a riot, the place was going crazy we wanted wings at one point a bouncer came to our table with his arms in a pose position acting like a tough guy so i gave him a left hook that sent him to the floor,i hope the same scene does not happen i want to watch a fight eating wings and putting the beer away, pac wins by kayo:drillserg

I really like both fighters, I give the slight edge to the Pacman.. although I did put some money down on cotto considering the odds.

Plenty of pubs should be showing it. Try and find a sportsbar somewhere.

But I think we all picked Manny. Why do you say we underestimated him? He is a living legend after all.

I feel bad for cotto,he got man handled, this fight was intriguing.I had no idea who would win it.I thought it could have in a lot of ways.. I feel sorry for Cotto though. He got messed up by the smaller man!

This was a strange fight to watch for me. I really wanted Miguel to win for some reason, even though I thought it was unlikely.

It was a great win for Pacquiao, showing that the hype is justified. But at the end of the day I just felt bad for poor Cotto. Months of training preparing for the fight, only to take another solid beating. After that second knockdown, he didn't have a chance.

Still, he showed Manny is human afterall, hitting him with some hard shots and winning a couple of rounds.

Respect to Manny for not trying to blast him out after the 9th round. Manny definately took his foot off the pedal. Maybe he felt bad for him too.

Cotto possibly could have survived until the end of the fight, but I don't blame the ref for stopping it.

You beat me to saying it. Poor guy.

Do you think he should retire?

Exactly how I felt, was actually real hard to watch Cotto get beat up like that.

I definitely don't think he should retire.
He can still compete with the top welters, I mean he beat Mosley, and could have beaten Margarito, assuming he wasn't wearing plaster of paris, and he beat clottey,
He shouldnt retire just yet, just keep fighting top 10 fighters for now.

I was rooting for Cotto as well. I'm a big fan of Manny but Cotto is a great guy and a great fighter and was a big dog in this fight so I couldn't help but pull for him. In the end it was just a very, very good fighter in there against a great fighter.

Cotto should definately stick around. He is still pretty young and his only legitimate loss has come against a guy noone seems to be able to touch right now. He is still right up there for mine.

it doesn't matter now even if JCC (Julio Cesar Chavez jr.) will beat Pacquiao, he is already a legend. I saw the future.
