View Full Version : Rakim is once again the GOAT in my opinion Floyd Sinclair 11-11-2009, 02:53 PM Seventh Seal >> Untitled Rakim >> Nas, Pac, etc. Truth 11-11-2009, 03:02 PM honestly. i need to listen to rakim more. and im dead serious about that. cuz if everybody says hes this good, I owe him more attention. Truth 11-11-2009, 03:03 PM next time i go to the store i'm buying a rakim album Ugh! 11-11-2009, 03:22 PM nah, nas is the GOAT, i have'nt heard seventh seal, but untitled was pretty bad(with the exception of maybe 3-4 songs, which were just damn sick) Truth 11-11-2009, 03:23 PM from what i heard, the 7th seal was really good. Floyd Sinclair 11-11-2009, 03:23 PM you got paid in full, right? honestly, i think thats one of his best its real old school though, it takes a little longer for most fans to get into albums from that far back but Rakim's got quotables for days... This is one of my favorite rakim joints off paid in full, check out my melody Truth 11-11-2009, 03:25 PM i think paid and full is a little too old school for me. i like old school rap, but thats REALLY old school. lol i respect it though. D.I.E.S.E.L 11-11-2009, 03:32 PM from what i heard, the 7th seal was really good. idk where you got that from, that album isn't even out yet. www.rakim.com Listen to The Watcher Part 2, idk how your a fan of hip hop and you don't listen to Rakim. Truth 11-11-2009, 03:37 PM Listen to The Watcher Part 2, idk how your a fan of hip hop and you don't listen to Rakim. I have tried in the past and have had trouble enjoying his music. I realize he is an influential/legendary MC. I have the highest respect for him and his fans. Thank you. Nick Fury 11-11-2009, 04:11 PM I can listen to Paid In Full all the way through. I'm pretty sure I read some where that Rakim is the most sampled hip hop artist ever. CrackYourJaw 11-11-2009, 05:59 PM Wait, it leaked? The ****. Floyd Sinclair 11-11-2009, 08:56 PM I can listen to Paid In Full all the way through. I'm pretty sure I read some where that Rakim is the most sampled hip hop artist ever. so can i and i had to listen to it alot before i can say that but it really is a classic in the truest form...Im not even sure which rakim cd is my favorite, i love them all and prodigy is the most sampled rapper ever but rakim is up there, he might be second after P True Guru 11-11-2009, 08:57 PM Rakim and Biggie are GOAT Rakim and Eric B ****in killed it back in the day MetalVomit 11-12-2009, 12:40 AM where the **** is this leak? D.I.E.S.E.L 11-12-2009, 08:20 PM From what I've heard so far on Last Fm, i'll probably buy this album, the first in awhile. I know why spend $10 when i could get it for free, but outta respect for this artist i'll pay it even if it doesn't sell well commercially Grand Champ 11-13-2009, 02:15 PM Damn, serious. Your guys opinion on the GOAT changes like the wind. Like people changes their underwear. An album comes out and you fall directly for the hype. Have an opinion already. The GOAT isn't decided on one album that comes late in the artist career. Look at is as a whole and make up your mind. It should'nt be changing constantly because of that late album. Floyd Sinclair 11-14-2009, 03:16 PM lol and smh @ people tryin to figure out my thought process...my top 3 has always had pac, nas, and rakim in it...the order is the only thing that has changed. Pac was originally at #1, but since hes dead and not making any new music...i gave the spot to Nas maybe a year ago or two, cant remember. Rakim, who is the most consistent rapper, proved that after not releasing an album for 10 years, that hes still just as sharp as ever. No rapper will ever match rakims consistency, hes been the same dude on the mic since 87 where as other rappers try different images at times. Rakim is the realest, his flow is great for someone with a monotone voice, his lyrics are as good as anyone elses, and he makes great albums without cursing every other word. I dont think theres even any profanity on the 7th seal. Some people dont like some of the beats and some of the hooks, thats fine. We're all not gonna agree on everything. To me, this album is a near classic. Im sure it will sound alot better to some people once the grouprip comes out. And who said change is bad? Change demonstrates that you think about things, I respect the opinions of those who think and analyze the deepest...especially those that look at things from all angles, which i think im one of the better posters when it comes to this. Everyone has bias's, but some people are more biased then others. I do what i can to eliminate as much bias as possible. The way i see it right now, Rakim is once again the goat and that probably wont change for a while. Truth 11-16-2009, 01:40 PM Everybody has their G.O.A.T. Rakim is a very acceptable choice based on the facts. I look forward to throughly listening to this new album of his. And I should invest in more of his music. I just need to preview them online first before I buy them because I dont want to waste money. i need to know i'm going to like it first. As far as opinions changing, thats normal. Truth 11-16-2009, 01:45 PM I'm previewing 18th letter right now on cdnow.com. it sounds great. now i think i'm going to buy it. wow@ these great beats and rakim's rhymes.
