View Full Version : Any Of You Guys Going To UFC 110 In Australia? Gettin Jiggy 11-11-2009, 04:54 AM Well? UFC is coming to Aussie land for the first time. In Febuary. There puttin on a pretty decent card. Anyone going??????? boxing_great 11-11-2009, 06:54 AM I don't mind UFC, it can be pretty good sometimes, depending if there is a big name fighting and if the fight has excitement in it. skyler 11-11-2009, 08:19 AM Where in Australia? and who's fighting? mrboxer 11-11-2009, 11:00 AM no i am not going, you think i am going to pay for a flight and sit on a plane that takes 3 days to get to the destination just to watch ufc,no way not this cat, even if it were free i am not giving up my valuable time to get on a plane and get extreme jet lag,who wants to travel around the world to watch ufc:boxing: Dan... 11-11-2009, 05:36 PM I'm not a fan of MMA, i just don't find it exciting. I think it is largely because I just don't understand the sport. I got no idea what types of moves and **** they are doing when they are on the ground so I just find it boring as ****. mgkirkpatrick 11-11-2009, 07:12 PM I'm pretty sure it's 111, in Sydney and Wanderlei is fighting Okami? I'd love to go, but I doubt funds will allow it Philfy 11-11-2009, 09:25 PM I'm not a fan of MMA, i just don't find it exciting. I think it is largely because I just don't understand the sport. Yeah, it takes a while to become familiar with what they are actually doing on the ground. It's actually pretty technical. I did some BJJ training for a while and I got interested in MMA through that. Regarding UFC, It's gonna be at Acer arena (same place as Green/RJJ fight). There's a guy from Sydney's west called James Ta Huna who is going to be fighting too, he's an exciting stand up striker. I'll be going, it's just over the road from me. gorasikawannabe 11-11-2009, 11:44 PM I don't mind UFC, it can be pretty good sometimes, depending if there is a big name fighting and if the fight has excitement in it. What if they start dry-humping though? Grappling should be banned in the UFC. Then it would be called K1. Striking is what people pay to see. Might as well watch the boxing! Might as well watch the boxing! Thats kind of my view. I don't mind watching the stand up stuff, but when they go to the ground I just get dissinterested. And yeah, BHop's right, it is kind of gay. mgkirkpatrick 11-12-2009, 12:46 AM it looks gay as **** at first, but once you can see what they're doing you can appreciate the technical side. gorasikawannabe 11-12-2009, 01:06 AM Thats kind of my view. Nuts in their face and tight pantgies on  it looks gay as **** at first, but once you can see what they're doing you can appreciate the technical side. I can't. I'm sure it is there as Gracie took on 400 bums, but I still can't appreciate it. boxing_great 11-12-2009, 02:34 AM What if they start dry-humping though? Grappling should be banned in the UFC. Then it would be called K1. Striking is what people pay to see. Might as well watch the boxing! Yea I totally agree with that. There is just too much grappling and wrestling, which takes the excitment away from the fight.Grappling can only last for so long, before they should just let go, and fight properly. Might as well watch the boxing! MMA guys (with a few exceptions) are generally piss poor strikers anyway. I agree, I would rather watch boxing if i wanted to see good standup. It's cringeworthy watching those MMA guys trying to box each other. They obviously spend way to much time pumping weights. You can't have a big bulky chest with huge biceps and expect to be a good striker. It just ain't gonna happen. How many boxers do you see with bulging biceps and huge traps? There's a fine line between speed and power, boxers mastered it decades ago. MMA is a young sport, and it's still evolving for them. brently1979 11-12-2009, 07:12 AM UFC looks gay and is pretty lame. mrboxer 11-12-2009, 11:19 AM i was looking at the specs of the trip and it is far,i cant believe you expect me to get on a jumbo jet and parade up in the sky for who knows how many days, just to watch ufc,no way, never, even if the flight were free and it was all you can drink beer i would never put my body though that vigorous routine to go to the other side of the universe to watch ufc marino218 11-12-2009, 11:39 AM MMA guys (with a few exceptions) are generally piss poor strikers anyway. Honestly, I have to agree with you, most guys do have a poor striking technique, but I don't think it has anything to do with being bulked up and muscular... On a side note, people who like the stand-up aspect of the game should be entertained watching UFC 100, as it will include Wanderlei Silva fighting Akiyama (yeah Wand's striking technique sucks but he always puts on a show) Mirko Crocop (who is actually a good striker) vs Ben Rothwell (a brawler with a granite chin) Stephan Bonnar who had some straight forward brawls with Forrest Griffin (known as some of the most exciting fights in UFC history) and is always involved in stand-up wars And Nate Marquardt who improved his striking greatly over past few fights, I'd post a link to a gif of his knockout combo over Wilson Gouveia but the site says I can't before I made 15 posts :S mgkirkpatrick 11-15-2009, 11:43 AM well you've got 15 posts now, mate... lets see the gif :) |
