I got clocked in the mincer last night whilst sparring and now have a shiney black eye :P Any tips on how to heal it quickly??
I put some Preparation H on this morning (on my eye) and it seems to be helping.
Anyone know of any other remedies??

havent you seen rocky? your on a boxing forum isn't the answer obvious? put a raw cold ass steak on that sucker and then eat the thing with only the heat from your eye to cook it.

hah just kiddin man. the best you can do is just ice the sucker as much as possible. It'll heal on its own. Just try to lay off sparring if thats where you got it. Its not really necessary to put anything on it. Just make sure its iced. The swelling will come down nice and you'll just have a nice shiner to show off.

you got clocked hey,you got walloped pretty good,were your hands low,you must of been day dreaming to get walloped by an over hand right while sparring,did you not see the punch coming,you are supposed to duck or next time try catching the right,you are lucky you just escaped with a shiner caused by an over hand right if it would of nailed you on your chin you probably would of been out cold on your back:boxing:

Keep the black eyes and pretend to your opponents that you're a vampire.

You can reduce the swelling and pain with ice, or maybe an anaesthetic cream (eg. Savlon or Germolene) if for some reason it's REALLY bugging you.

Hahahaha If only!! :D Yea I'm gonna try an take it easy sparring but I've got my first bout on the 28th so I don't wanna ease off too much ya know, I was really annoyed I got caught. Just started gettin tired and I didn't get out quick enough after I'd thrown a jab......will next time tho!

Quite right squirrel....it's starting to grow on me! It was mainly for work, but they weren't particularly bothered anyway

Punch your other eye as hard as you can.

Arnica gel or cream 2-4 times a day will help reduce the bruising, and ice to help reduce the swelling.

It will change from black to light purple/red over time and you cannot speed up the process.

However, you can cover up most of the bruising with careful application of cosmetics, first you need a quality foundation cream as close to your skin tone as possible, I recommend Estee Lauder Maximum Cover. Apply sparingly in two or three layers. It's a waterproof, silicone, non-comedonic and non-acneogenic foundation that stays where you put it and will still be there at the end of the day. If done correctly your black eye will be nearly impossible to notice.

And to make you feel better you can buy a nice pair of earrings.

Put some ice on that sucker and wear it proudly. **** happens, people get black eyes. Next time keep your chin down and hands up...
