View Full Version : Michael Buffer
BadMagick 04-02-2005, 12:05 AM Am I the only one who can't stand anyone BUT Buffer? This guy is the best ever. He's got the best intro line, "Ladies and gentlemen.... let's get ready to rumbleeeeeeee!" It makes you feel like, "Man, some serious stuff is about to go down." It's infinitely better than "It's Showtime!" That gets me going "Yay! I need some pop-corn and a cherry-pepsi! The movie's about to start!" Well, I shouldn't feel that way. He's also the only guy who doesn't say the last name twice. For the life of me I cannot figure out why these other chumps say the last name twice. I just watched the intro of Gatti - Ward I (I had never seen Ward before, he's weird looking), and this ass says "Gatti" twice, in a really homosexual manner.
I don't know, I just love Michael Buffer's anouncing.
Also, I'd like to throw in that Mills Lane is the best ref ever. I wish I could see more fights that he reffereed (SP). His famous, "Let's get it on!" was awesome.

PessimisticPug 04-02-2005, 12:17 AM He announced a couple of my fights. I like him too.........Rockin' :boxing:
i agree man
jimmy lennon aint ad either
but hes the best
Stickman 04-02-2005, 12:34 AM Don't like 'em, never did. He's too "over the top" to suit me. I prefer Lenin. Less obnoxious, more humble. Buffer seems to think he's the big attraction, and the fighters are just backup for his performance.

That's because he is. I would watch a match just to see Michael Buffer intro it. Well, I might not watch the fight, but I'd definitely watch his intro. I'd watch a match for Mills Lane reffing it, though.
mauricio95 04-02-2005, 12:55 AM i like jimmy lenon better i dont know why i just do
but them 2 are some of the best out there
BadMagick 04-02-2005, 12:58 AM Did everyone hate the guy for Gatti - Ward I?
Hurlex 04-02-2005, 01:30 AM dude has the best job for a boxing fan...gets payed to talk and introduce boxers...than sit (FRONT ROW) and watches fight...he f**king paid to see the fight...crap...i would love that..do u know how many fights this guy has watched front row...damn
spinksjinx 04-02-2005, 08:56 AM He also did that catchy phrase every monday night for WCW. He also sat front row, Im sure he enjoyed that *sighs* but he gut paid MEGA bucks for doing that...I bet he got paid more announcing wrestling then he does boxing.

Dude what the hell is wrong with you? Sorry, but that's ridiculous. You act like you know the guy or something...please. You can't judge him. All he does is say his line and get out, he doesn't have time to get to know him, so stop reading between the lines and over analyzing someone based on 5 words they say.

I have heard Buffer is a big dickhead and very arrogant.

lol...alright? Good for you, you still don't know the man. Hearing something and knowing something are different things.

I heard he even might have some ties to the "al-queda" terrorist group. Not sure though, because I dont know the guy.

exactly
and think about the ammount of time he works vs. how much he probably gets paid
spinksjinx 04-02-2005, 02:19 PM The story on buffer, it was posted on this board or over at another site. Was that they were attending a fight and was in the same elevator as Buffer, the fan tried to speak and he got arrogant and got ****y enough that he would have someone kick their ass.
Buffer is confident in his work, what makes you think he wouldnt be a dick? He has the easiest and most stress free job in the world, aside from people holding little caesars 5 dollar pizza signs.
when you hear buffer, you know **** is about to go down...you know its a big fight.
he may be a little over the top with some introductions, but they always get me pumped up.

Thats why he is the man at what he does, but lets not forget BoxingScenes own announcer JD Lyons (aka SoundTraveler). He has worked with Buffer personally and done some undercards with him as well, I do believe.
Id be curious to see how much Buffer gets paid for a night on HBO. I know WCW paid him above 150k but that company just threw cash around....Anyone know what his salary or fee would be?
