Nautilus 11-25-2004, 01:11 AM Manny Pacquiao has a big heart! he.. he..
Does he, really?
I only know that JMM has displayed a great Champion's heart in his fight with Pacman.

A true champion wouldn't become a champion without the will (heart) of every fight. JMM is just fortunate on their first bout. Wait for the rematch.

I like Pacman a lot, but I think JMM will win by UD12 in the rematch.

that would be awesome
grayfist 11-25-2004, 02:33 AM Boxers with a great heart. If that means the ones who pick themselves up after KD's to take some more, the ones that come to mind are:
1-CHRISTY WILLIAMS- Against Battling Nelson in Hot Springs, Arkansas (1902), Williams was decked 42 times before Nelson put him away for good in the 17th round!Williams also decked Nelson 7 times in a bout that went down in history as the one with the most number of KDs under the Queensberry Rules!
2-JOE GRIM- born Saverio Giannone, weighed only 165lbs, but fought the likes of Joe Gans (lightweight) and Jack Johnson (Heavyweight). Johnson floored Grim 20 times in 6 rounds while Bob Fitzsimmons dumped Grim 17 times also in 6 rounds!
And, if having a big heart also means the capacity to get a beating ( without any KD) and yet seemingly beg for more, then I'll add:
3-Randall "Tex" Cobb- whose capacity to absorb punishment and just go on fighting with nothing more than HEART was best illustrated in his fight against Larry Holmes-- a fight so one-sided and so ugly for Cobb, that the late Howard Cossel quit covering boxing on TV for good! Cobb also won against Ernie Shavers in 8 rounds, but only after having been mauled by Shavers through 7 rounds!
I don't think any of the current crop of fighters can touch these guys when it comes to HEART! :)

i disagree, Brewster is tough as nails, the only difference between him and the guys you names is Brewster won't go down, and will still continue to win the fight against bigger stronger guys.
grayfist 11-25-2004, 04:58 AM i disagree, Brewster is tough as nails, the only difference between him and the guys you names is Brewster won't go down, and will still continue to win the fight against bigger stronger guys. The closest Brewster would be to is Cobb, who didn't go down either, even as he faced the biggest hitters of his era. But then if one talks about really tough guys---not just heart but chin, et al--- one has to mention George Chuvalo, whom Nat Fletcher-- often referred to as the Father of Modern Boxing Journalism-- dubbed as the toughest Heavyweight ever. In 97, yes, 97 fights, Chuvalo never kissed the canvass; never even came close to it. Both Joe Frazier and George Foreman stopped him, but on cuts. The late Rocky Marciano, another tough cookie who should know what he was talking about, said, "If they still fought bare-knuckle, George would reign champion for the next twenty years!"
I don't think Brewster can touch that, could he? ;)

I KNOW THIS WON'T BE A POPULAR CHOICE BUT
VLAD K. has never once stayed down off of a KD
he has never quit getting up
against Purrity he was fighting on until his corner stepped in
against sanders he got up each time
and even against Brewster dead tired he got up
not to mention getting up against D williams, and S. Pannel
even though those were flash KD's
he may have lost but he has always fought on.
other guys include
WARD, a club fighter who got to the top (HBO) because of his red organ
Mayorga
and some more guys
who people already mentioned.
phallus 11-25-2004, 03:54 PM WARD, a club fighter who got to the top (HBO) because of his red organ

How about Danny Willams! People with knowledge will get me!! Arakas.
;) THATS HIS BEST ATTRIBUTE MATE.
blackbelt2003 11-26-2004, 10:02 AM Danny is a conundrum, because he's SCARED TO DEATH when he's fighting...but he's still got a ton of heart!
It would take a real beating to put him down and out at the moment...something not even Tyson could do!
