Most of the threads I've seen on this fight have just been praise and stuff so I wanted to make one about the actual fight. Here are my thoughts on it, I'd love you hear yours.
First of all since when was it "you can touch gloves if you like"??
On my first viewing I was basically goin "oh, ****" the entire time just being anxious for Fedor the entire time, it didn't look like he was in control of the fight. I was worried about Brett's stand up (I've never seen him fight but some people here were saying his only chance was to KO him so I thought he had superior standup) and when Fedor went to the ground he wasnt very effective.
On second viewing (although now I knew the result) Fedor looked a lot better. His stand up was superior to Bret's, possibly because Bret wasnt used to going backwards. He's obviously an explosive puncher but I'm not sure about his defense and chin.
He didnt look very good when he was pressed up against the cage, though he may have been taking a breather at that point. But he did show some nice explosive strength in getting Brett off of him. On the ground he got nailed a couple times when Brett was in closed guard. This seemed partially because he was against the cage and because Brett had such a large reach advantage. Fedor seemed to have some trouble on the ground because Brett over powered him. But as soon as he had any trouble on the ground he went for the arm bar and ended up switching to a safer position. So Fedor wasn't actually in that much trouble because he is very good at getting out of positions he doesn't want to be in (imposing his will on the direction of the fight).
So basically he looked worst during the fight when he was against the cage. People may see the success that Brett had on the ground with Fedor and say that Lesnar would do even better but the fact is Lesnar hasn't fought anyone who is as dynamic on the ground. Mir in the second fight was looking for opportunities and found none while Fedor, if caught in that position, would create them.
