As you guys know, I just recently bit the bullet and got myself an Xbox 360.

A couple days ago I had the chance to pick up some games for it, and I figured I'd post impressions in here.

Fight Night Round 4

F*ckin' amazing. Plain and simple. The mechanics are great, the controls are responsive, it's hands down the best boxing experience ever created, IMO.

The only minor gripes I have are as follows.

- No Bernard Hopkins or Juan Manuel Marquez. WTF? These guys are Legends, and it pisses me off that I can't play as them.

- Legacy mode is too easy. I'm playing on Champion difficulty and I'm 76-0 with 65 KO's with a created Meldrick Taylor (who looks amazing, BTW. In his Chavez I outfit, sans tassles.) Perhaps if I play through next time on G.O.A.T. I'll have tougher fights.

- Barrera looks like ****. WTF is with those gay short shorts? I haven't seen Marco wear shorts that short since the days he sported a mullet. They're like 1970's NBA issue ****. Plus his face is all f*cked up, and he looks like a monkey. He looks so horrible, I can't even play with him. Seriously.

Ninja Gaiden II

Don't see what everybody complained about this one as far as difficulty goes. I'm on my first playthrough on "path of the warrior" and I didn't die for the first time until Chapter 5's (I think) water dragon boss.

Amazingly fast paced, addictive, and responsive. An action gamer's wet dream.

Dead Rising

Awesome stuff. Zombie genocide has never felt any better. Though I find myself missing "scoops" and cases all the damn time because I'm too busy cutting through hordes of the undead with chainsaws and lawnmowers.

Haven't gotten very far into it yet, though. Basically just dicking around with the various weapons and exploring the mall.

Can't steal the convict's vehicle to save my damn life.......

Forza 2

Rough. Probably too rough for me, but I bought it for 7 bucks, so it was a steal.

I can't corner for ****, it's way too "sim" for me. Meaning I guess I'm going to have to spend more time tuning my cars for each track (and I don't even know the basics of tuning, so I'm basically guessing, here) than I am on the actual racetrack.

Still, it's a beautiful game, and I hold out hope I can at least get decent enough to not smash into the walls every single time I try to corner.

Anybody got any tips for accomplishing that?

Really? I thought they did much better.

2004 was ****, I thought. Then with Round 2, they made solid improvements. Then in Round 3, they just took about 10 steps backwards with all that "parry" and "haymaker" bull****.

Round 4 is f*ckin' amazing, son. What didn't you like about it?

**** ; the intro alone to Tyson vs. Ali was enough to give me wood. Let alone the fight that ensued. (I was Tyson, fighting Ali on G.O.A.T.) His reach was giving me a ****load of trouble, so I changed my strategy and started counter punching better. Got him stunned a couple times, then decided to work my way inside ; in typical "Iron" Mike fashion, bobbing and weaving, popping the left hook out of the crouch.

Finally KO'd him in the 6th. It was epic.

Then I switched sides and boxed from the outside as Ali against Tyson on G.O.A.T.

call me crazy but i LOVED rnd 3... minus a couple aspects that made it too arcade vs not enough sim...

but, i know on the ps3 version at least, the in the ring mode is what made the game for me... where you fought through the fighteres EYES and saw the hands in front of you... that was the best they could have done with the series and they scrapped it for rnd 4

That thing was cool, but it was only an effect, son. You had to stun the guy real bad to get him to go into it, and then once you defended a blow, it switched back over to regular view.

Unless there was some option to fight in that mode all the time, I never checked.

I thought Round 3 was ****, for the most part.

The fighters were just too f*ckin' slow for my tastes. I could see everything the opponet was going to throw, and parry it or slip it, just in time. Hooks were wide as ****, uppercuts were insanely retarded looking (just look at Duran's), etc....

To each his own, I guess.

For my money, Round 4 is as tight as it gets when it comes to boxing.

The only other drawback I can think of that I dislike about it, is that you can fight guys from more than 1 or 2 weightclasses below you.

I'd like to wreck Billy Dib's ass with Mike Tyson. :lol1:

I also really loved the challenge of being Barrera, Morales, or Chico, and trying to beat a Heavyweight.

nah man, on th ps3 you could fight the whole fight like that..... i did two whole careers in that mode, lol, it was great...

but 4 definitely has the better roster..... and the one thing that makes it better, esp sim like, is that more fights can go the distance... 3 was too arcade in the fact that you had to try very hard to go the distance... they almost ALL ended in 5 rnds or less...

dont get me wrong, EA meant well w/ 4 and it really does have its moments... i just couldnt get into it like i thought i would

Now you need to get the killer games for the 360 bro. May I suggest Modern Warfare 2, Gears 2 and Halo 3. Get those 3 and you'll be set till Mass Effect and Halo Reach which don't come out until next year.

Modern Warfare 2 is a definite "must".

Money is tight for me now that I'm out of work, though. So I gotta pick and choose what to buy and when to buy it. $50.00 for FNR4 used was ridiculous, but it was worth every penny, to me.

Halo 3 I beat back when it came out, on a friend's 360, but I don't think it's something I'll buy. When it comes to shooters, I'm more into Modern Warfare and Rainbow Six type ****.

Other games I'm really dying to get my hands on are Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter 4, and Oblivion ; The Game of the Year edition.

Oh and Assassins Creed is pretty cheap, too. Looks like I might like that, but I heard it got boring halfway into it.

Bioshock is another one I hear a lot about, that and Left 4 Dead.

I'm really glad I got my hands on this 360 for a hundred bucks. I love my PS2 to death, but I've beaten every game in my 100 game collection at least 3 times. :lol1:

About Ninja Gaiden II.. they purposely made it easier than the first one, if you want a challenge que ninja gaiden black which has all the hurricane packs and looks great in the 360. That one is more difficult than II.. still you will get to some spots in II that the difficulty ramps up fast.

I didn't really have any trouble with "Black" on the original 360. I died a couple times, sure. But I didn't see all the fuss people were making about how hard it was.

I plan on going through Gaiden II on "Master Ninja" mode on my 2nd playthrough.

I still think the "Devil May Cry" series is harder than the "Gaiden" series. ****, at least you can block in "Gaiden". :lol1:

Yeah, I liked Ninja Gaiden as well. Only 3 complaints I can remember

1. They released an update for the game that ****s up your save game. Can you believe that? It means that on one of the levels, you can walk endlessly, with no enemies. The only way to fix it is to delete the update or start a new game. Maybe it's fixed now though.

2. Camera angles. Sometimes you're stuck looking from a direction that doesn't let you see what you need to.

3. On level 2 I think it is, there's a bonus fight or something, and after you win, it allows you to have other bonus fights on each level. I had no idea about this, so missed it(even though it's not supposed to be hard to find, it just happens as you leave a building). I completed the game, then looked online and found that out, so it means I've missed a decent amount of gameplay despite not doing anything wrong.

Love Dead Rising, despite it's annoying flaws. Don't think much of FNR4 and also preferred UFC. Was playing FNR4 yesterday for the first time in ages, pwned my cousin, his mate and my brother :D

You got online yet?

No xbox Live yet, Cleggy.

It's on my "to get" list, though ; for sure. Probably be up and running as soon as I get some spare cash. I'd love to scrap with some of you pricks online. :lol1:

Yeah online is a must for the 360, unless you got ppl over all the time that is.

Just wait on sf4 though, Super Street Fighter 4 is coming out spring next year supposedly, and its gonna have more of everything. Dont be getting none of those FPS games unless you do have live, most of them are made for multiplayer.

I still can't go Undefeated on Fight Night...

I was only tested by Tommy Hearns, throughout my entire career.

I got a split decision over him the first time out. I felt I could've done better (this was early in my career and my stats were ****), so I decided to rematch him.

Big mistake.

Tommy brought the f*ckin' heat down on my ass. Knocked me down twice within the first 3 rounds. Thought I was done for but I regained composure and boxed from the outside really well, then I headbutted him to open a huge cut on his face, and the fight got stopped.

I got the TKO. :lol1:

It was cheap, but that prick wasn't going to take my undefeated streak without killing me.

Yeah... Hearns is a ****ing tank in the game
Last time I had a go at Legacy mode, I went Gamboa (have a go with him if you haven't)... 1 defeat to my name which was a bull**** decision, even the commentators called robbery :bukkake:
Won the re-match though... not long for a title shot now :luvbed:
