View Full Version : Your Boxing Commentator Dream Team
jpboxer3 03-31-2005, 07:24 AM If you could pick three commentators from the different Networks to call one huge boxing event today, which three would it be?
Heres some of my ideas:
Jim Lampley,Teddy Atlas,Al Bernstein - My Pick
Barry Tompkins,Larry Merchant,Bob Papa
Brian Kenny,Sean O'Grady,Roy Jones Jr
Boxfan12 03-31-2005, 07:34 AM Merchant says some funny ass things so i would need him for the humor. Here is mine.
1.Merhcant
2.teddy atlas(He knows the sport a great student and a great teacher)
3.Foreman(knows alot and speaks the truth even if larry dont want to hear it.)
jpboxer3 03-31-2005, 08:01 AM I dont think Lampley is that good at calling fights, but he is a damn good host.Teddy Atlas on the other hand, can call fights, and I think he's one of the best at it today because he's never bias and is always honest. If a fight is lopsided,Atlas will be the first to say something. As for Bernstein,I haven't seen much of him since he's on Showtime(A channel I dont get  ),but from what i've seen of him,he's very good at analyzing fights.I think these three would make the perfect commentating team.
masterdirector 03-31-2005, 08:04 AM Max Kellerman is my favorite boxing analyst.
I like Steve Farhood a lot too.
Commentary dream team?
Mike Tyson, Cus D'Mato, Muhammad Ali
My dream, my rules.

yea true but to me teddy atlas is a very very good one even know hes on espn. He knows what hes talking about. I enjoy lisening to him.
baard 03-31-2005, 08:53 AM Mike Tyson because of his humour and his knowledge, George Foreman because you gotta love the guy and Lampley because of the "drama frases" like "it happend,it happend"!
AintGottaClue 03-31-2005, 10:04 AM put merchant between foreman and RJJ AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHA
otherwise ill take lampley foreman atlas
jack_the_rippuh 03-31-2005, 10:35 AM I guess I'm the only one who liked Cosell. The guy was great, in my opinion....he had something what made the fight seem better than it was.
The Foreman/Merchant/Lampley is my dream, as it will never happen again.
Explosivo 03-31-2005, 11:05 AM Jim Lampley, Max Kellerman, and the most underrated and un recognized boxing commentator of them all, the great host of the best boxing show on the radio, Rich Marotta! BTW, Rich will be doing the upcoming MAB fight for HBO.
steve farhood, mercant and big george.
cmason 03-31-2005, 12:01 PM the best commentator i've heard is colonel bob sheridan. he really knows what he's talking about and tries to tell the viewer what may not seem obvious to the less knowledgable.
also teddy atlas on espn. knows the game inside and out.
mine is a 4 member team - Farhood, Lamps, Lederman (yes, Lederman, his insightfulness and understanding of the game w/ hiw unique voice ALWAYS makes him a pleasure to hear so I'm giving him a mic) and Steward (ONLY if he's commentating like the 12th round of the toney/jirov fight - otherwise hes boring)
can't stand max kellermans voice so if one of 'um is on the IR then i'm replacing w/ sugar or bernstein.
