Bowe injured! Off card!
By Flattop
“Riddick tore a ligament,” stated manager Jimmy Adams to ********* concerning the status of Riddick Bowe for Saturday’s card in Louisville, KY. “He ripped tendon in his left arm, his jab, while training on Monday. He went to the hospital today (Wednesday) and the doctor told him to take off six weeks.” Bowe was scheduled to fight veteran Kenny Craven (25-13, 22 KOs) this Saturday at the Louisville Gardens arena. The fight against Craven would have been the second fight in Bowe’s comeback since returning from an eight-year layoff. In September, Bowe scored a second round TKO over journeyman Marcus Rhode. “I may have to have it (the injured arm) operated on,” a dissapointed Bowe stated to *********. “I am going to keep running, doing my situps and hopefully in six weeks I can go back to training. I’ll be back”

“We still have a show,” said promoter Randy Waldman of Straight Up Promotions. “We are looking for another fighter to step in for Bowe plus we have undefeated featherweight Daniel Maldonado on the lineup.” Maldonado (14-0, 8 KOs) holds the NABA and WBC Latin American featherweight titles and is from nearby Henderson, KY. “Riddick will be at the fight doing commentary, signing autographs, saying hello to everyone,” Waldman continued. “It was one of those things. We are not worried about this one fight. Riddick will be back and Straight Up Promotions will be there as he goes for the championship.

Reports coming in say that former heavyweight champion Riddick "Big Daddy" Bowe, 41-1 (33), has apparently pulled out of his bout in Louisville Kentucky on Saturday night citing a shoulder injury. Bowe was scheduled to face veteran Kenny Craven at the Louisville Gardens in a fight called “The Redemption” that would have been webcast live around the world. Promoter Randall Waldman of Straight Up Promotions is said to be searching for a “name” fighter to replace Bowe. The former champion had been signing autographs and speaking out against violence to Louisville youth earlier in the week. The fight against Craven would have been Bowe’s second since returning from an eight-year layoff last September.
