Sven Ottke deserves mention. He is only a super middleweight but he is so powerful that I could see him incapacitating heavyweights.

Hey! If you ask Anthony Mundine he would say Ottke, Mundine was unconscious from one of Ottke's power punches!!!!! :D

Im gonna have to go with Earnie Shavers, considered by many to be the hardest puncher of all time. Muhammad Ali rated his punches as harder than those of Foreman, and Larry Holmes is quoted saying he hit harder than did Tyson.

So I would have to go with Shavers for the number one spot. After Shavers I would pick Foreman. Tyson and Liston probably belong in the top-five as well.

Shavers....

At lighter weights I'd say Julian Jackson

At even lighter weights I'd say Wilfredo Gomez...

pound 4 pound Julian jackson has to be up there, the one that sticks in my mind was when he fought herol ` the bomber ` graham, he was getting outboxed by the slippery graham and then out of nowhere he nearly removes graham`s head from his body, great finishing punch, awesome power.

Foreman Hardest puncher, Tyson most explosive puncher.

It HAS to be Foreman. The guy throws arm punches and still KOs fighters. As far as Ali goes. He said Shavers hit him the hardest, but he was out on his feet from a clear shot from Shavers. He said he was out on his feet from a GLANCING blow from Foreman. In my humble opinion, that tells me that Foreman packs a much more dangerous punch than Shavers or anybody for that matter.

P4P Naseem Hamed, the only fighter who wasn't affected by his punches was Barrera simply becuase he made sure he didn't get hit!

Southpaw Stinger

George foreman. He was very impressive in his prime and his powerful punchers overwhelmed most.

overall foreman

With the size and length of Foreman's arms, as well as how much weight he could put into it, I'd put him as number one. Ali never took a clean shot to the head from Foreman because of his defensive game plan during the fight. I guarantee you, had the worst happened in "The Rumble in the Jungle," Ali's opinion might be a little different. Shavers was a great puncher, but his career, and sometimes his power, was slightly inconsistent. George Foreman had something like 88% KO ratio in somewhere around 84 fights (He was 79-5, wasn't he?). That's a lot of fights for a large heavyweight to be knocking people out.

Tyson was likely the most explosive puncher. He had power in both hands and a lot of hand speed.

Liston was one of the scariest punchers of all time. He even knocked guys out with a jab.

Jack Dempsey hit hard...when he coated his hand wraps in plaster of paris. :p

i don't under why tyson is listed all the times, aren't we talking about HARDEST puncher not the better tyson didn't do to much 1hitter quitters other than the Botha fight his KO's use to come from very quick and accurate punches....
Tua only had to land to put you to sleep ( exept for ibeabuchy who suffered brain damage after the fight ...)
Tua broke 2 groin protectors with body punches

Tyson one punched Michael Jack Johnson in the stomach and put him down. When the guy actually got up, Tyson punched him with a right hand and broke his jaw.

Later in his career he punched Clifford Etienne in the side of the head and he went down in one shot.

He knocked Marvis Frazier out with one right-handed uppercut.

He landed Eddie Richardson with a right hand, and after Eddit got up, Tyson hit him with a left hook that sent him airborn across the ring.

Even guys who fought Tyson late in his career said that Tyson's fists were like dynamite. Someone once equated it to padding your head with a phone book and then letting a major league slugger swat it with a baseball bat repeatedly. While that's an analogy that's been used on this website before, it's worth repeating for the sake of defending a powerful puncher in a "hardest hitter" thread.

:boxing:

P.S. I'll keep posting more of his one punch knockdowns/knockouts if I need to.

Ever seen Foreman vs. Roman. The second knockdown. Anyone who has seen it knows the one.

I'll upload it here if anyone wants to be treated to one of the most brutal knockdowns of all-time.

Foreman Hardest puncher, Tyson most explosive puncher.

In terms of raw strength, Liston, Foreman, Shavers are ahead of anyone including Jackson, and all of the one-punch KO artists.

Gavilan1

P4P Naseem Hamed, the only fighter who wasn't affected by his punches was Barrera simply becuase he made sure he didn't get hit!

The oddness about Hamed's style made it difficult for opponents to guess where he was going to move next. The guy knocked guys out while off balance with either hand. His punching power was phenomenal. Without it, he really didn't have much going for him outside of an outrageously awkward style.

Hamed's easy demolition of the rock-hard (and worldclass) Bungu says everything that needs to be stated about his power...world class.
