I'm a big fan of sci-fi/horror anthology shows. Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, even lower quality stuff like Tales From The Crypt. So Phobia seemed like my kind of film. Four unrelated segments by four different directors, each one of them a horror story. Another reason this caught my attention is that it's the only film by the directors of Shutter and Alone that I have yet to see, although they only did two of the segments.

1: Happiness (directed by Youngyooth Thongkonthun). This one has very little dialogue. It's about a young girl who can't get around much as she's had an accident and has a cast on her leg, so the whole story is just her alone in her room. She starts getting txt messages from an unknown number, but they end up chatting and liking one another. She begins to get worried though when he claims to be in the room with her. This one had the best atmosphere of the lot, which is impressive considering that it was just one actress in a single room. Had a similar feel to it as Shutter, although this had nothing to do with Shutter's creators.

2: Deadly Charm (directed by Paween Purikitpanya). This is different from the other three in that there isn't really any tension. A group of students bully a younger kid, beating him up, destroying his bike and even throwing him from a car. It turns out however that the kid has studied black magic, and is intent on revenge. The whole thing moves so fast that there isn't really any suspense built up, but that's not neccessarily a bad thing. I liked them all, but if I had to have a least favourite it would probably be this. Having said that, it has the most twisted ending of the lot.

3: In The Middle (directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun). This was probably my favourite one. Four friends go camping, but begin to get spooked out by claims that a ghost haunts the area. They then go into the river, where one of them drowns. The rest become scared that he'll come back and kill the one who sleeps in the middle of the tent (as he had jokingly pledged to do). This has quite a bit of comedy, with the four guys making jokes at each other's expense, and it features a lot of spoilers for other horror movies, though thankfully I'd seen them all, otherwise I would've been a bit pissed off. Good horror-comedy.

4: Flight 244 (directed by Parkpoom Wongpoon). An air stewardess has to work on a flight with a demanding Princess, who may have more of a connection to her than the viewer initially realises. This one was a bit predictable once it reached the half-way mark, as it was pretty obvious how things were going to play out. Still, they did a good job of the whole thing and it made me jump a couple of times.

Overall a good selection with no weak link, particularly worth watching if you're a fan of the genre.
