View Full Version : Where to watch Haye vs Valuev fight in OZ?
cuate 11-03-2009, 10:57 PM I really want to watch this sideshow for some reason. Anyone know if it will be broadcast in oz? more specifically in Sydney? Sky and Mainevents aren't hosting it but I don't know who else could? It will be at redeye event also cause of the time difference.
Dan... 11-03-2009, 11:03 PM Pretty doubtful you will get this fight on TV out here. Unfortunately your best and potentially only bet will be an online stream and perhaps downloading the fight from the video section the next day. Sucks but its just the way it is out here unfortunately.

I tried this site for the first time watching Dirrell/Froch the other week. Cost (US) $4 for a 24hour subscription. You can pay by Paypal too. It streams live, so make sure you have a solid internet connection.
BTW, what are peoples predictions for this fight?
Infern0 11-03-2009, 11:53 PM I used it for froch/dirrell too.
I predict Valuev KO, Haye lacks the footwork, defense and stamina to beat Valuev, there is a chance of a Haye ko however. The first round will be telling, If Hayes punches are clearly Hurting Valuev, haye will go on to stop him, If not Haye will get stopped in the 8th.

You saw Holyfield's shell beat Valuev right?
Valuev is just terrible. I may not be sold on Haye but he should beat this guy easily and I don't think Valuev has the snap in his punches to take advantage of Haye's weak chin.
I'm expecting Haye to win easily. Probably by stoppage.
Philfy 11-04-2009, 12:41 AM There are 2 things I would want to see to make this fight entertaining.
1) Haye's pretty face turned into a bloody pulp.
2) Valuev getting knocked down.
If either of these happen (preferably both of course), I will be a happy man regardless of who wins.
and for the record... I reckon it'll go to the judges.

If it goes to the judges Haye is winning no question. There is no way Haye is getting outpointed by Valuev.
I just can't accept that Haye can lose to a guy who can't beat Evander at this point.

Usually I agree with you Dan, but on this one i have to differ. I don't think Holyfield/Valuev was a style preview of this figh, can you honestly say that even at this stage Evander has worse stamina/defence/chin than Haye?
Also Hayes main weapon is his power which I dont think is a huge factor against Granite Head.
The way I see it is that Haye will have to fight a completley different fight than he is used to to defeat Valuev, moving around the ring, diving in and out with his hands up, and head bobbing, and keep it up for most of the 12 rounds.
I hope Haye wins for the sake of the division, but sadly i think we are going to have to endure Valuev/Ruiz 3 next year:sad:
boxing_great 11-04-2009, 02:00 AM I think Haye will outpoint Valuev. That's the only likely result I see.
cuate 11-04-2009, 06:31 PM Y'all forgetting this fight is in Germany??... If it goes to points the big man will win. Pretty sure his trains partly in Germany.
Philfy 11-04-2009, 08:51 PM Definately a factor to consider. I thought it was ironic that Holyfield was robbed against Valuev in Switzerland-supposedly the most neutral country of them all.
Best to aim for a KO rather than leave it in the hands of the judges.
boxing_great 11-04-2009, 09:53 PM well a robbery is definitely not out of the question.
Dan... 11-04-2009, 10:53 PM I don't think a robbery is really on the cards in this one to be honest.
If Haye wins this by decision he is winning a near shutout IMO. Either Valuev is able to catch him and expose Haye's chin or Haye peppers him with fast punches all night and wins pretty much every round.
I'm not sure you guys are really appreciating just how shocking Valuev is. He is awful.
damned1974 11-06-2009, 11:31 PM So,what time is this fight on here in Oz ? Can someone PM me a link, and the time? Thanks!

Nice pick boxing_great.
Dan... 11-08-2009, 08:36 AM I haven't seen any of the fight yet but apparently Haye was a little lucky to get away with the decision which surprises me. I thought if it went to the cards it would be clear.

I didn't score it, but I felt that Haye was a bit fortunate. Maybe my dissapointment with his performance affected my judgment, as Valuev didn't do much either, but he seemed to be connecting more often than Haye in most of the rounds.
Bit of a dull fight really. Some people like seeing a guy using a lot of movement, but to me that's not enjoyable unless he's actually countering effectively. Too often, Valuev would throw 2-3 slow punches, and Haye would then just move away without throwing anything back.

Yeah I caught a few rounds of it this morning. It looked like Haye was getting a fair bit more done to me to be honest Clegg but yeah, didn't look like a great fight. Valuev needs to fuk off. He is pretty bad for that division.

Haye wasn't lucky at all, he made Valuev look foolish for 12 rounds and made him do the chicken dance.
remember i predicted Haye would lose badly.

See my previous post. I've watched around half of the fight so far this morning and I think Haye definately did more.
Also, I told you Valuev was no chance in hell of stopping Haye. I can't believe you even thought that was a possibility to be honest.

Well, I got the prediction right
boxing_great 11-09-2009, 08:12 AM Nice pick boxing_great.
thanks.......
There was hardly any punches landing from either side,Haye was winning rounds by simply connecting with a 1 punch or 2 per round.
Haye keeps saying he will ko this guy and that guy, but let's see if he can do it..

Yeah, I'm not convinced Haye has true HW power. He has great speed but I'm not sure about the power. He landed a million big shots on Barrett before finally stopping him, and Barrett is hardly renowned for having an iron chin.
You will never really know if Haye is the real deal until he steps in against Wladimir or Vitali. Thats the way the HW division is right now. The other guy is Chambers, but Haye would never fight him while he has a chance at landing a big money fight against one of the Klit bros - the risk-reward just isn't there.

Surely you Jest.
lets have a look at Haye's heavyweight fights thus far
1. Thomasz Bonin TKO1
2. Monte Barett TKO 5
3 . Granite Head MD12
The first fight, against a bum, haye couldnt do any more.
The second fight, Haye was showboating with barett, and dropped him every time he hit him, and he didnt even land hardly any flush shots, barett was going down off glancing blows. Hasim Rahman couldnt ko Barett and Wlad took 7 rounds to Ko Barett, so are they not heavyweight punchers either?
The third fight, Haye makes a giant with one of the best chins in boxing do the chicken dance off a glancing blow with his weak hand.

You thought his power was evident in the Barrett fight? I felt most of the time he was dropping him it was the speed of his shots that was doing it rather than the power. Also, comparing the Barrett that Wladimir fought to the shot to **** version that Haye took out is a bit ridiculous.
I'm not saying he doesn't have power, clearly he does. I just don't think he has carried his CW power through to HW in the same fashion. He was devestating at Cruiser, not so much at HW.

I think he has enough power to hurt anyone in the division, possibly except for Vitali.
Wobbling the giant with your weak hand is a massive statement.
I would say Adamek's power hasn't carried, considering he landed about 50,000 flush shots on Golota and wasn't really hurting him

Yeah I would agree. It is very, very tough to carry your power from CW up to Heavy. I think Haye has power, just not anywhere near what he had at CW. I also don't think he has enough power to overcome his shortcomings against the Klitschkos.
Infern0 11-09-2009, 06:57 PM I think Haye needs to steer clear of the klitschkos, they are inhuman monsters.

LOL. If he "steers clear" of the Klitschkos then what was the point of the entire exercise?
He should go after a fight against Wladimir. He has half a chance in that one. Not a great chance, but still a chance. I don't see him doing so well against Vitali.

The Klitschko's are the only names that matter now for Haye. After all the talk of world heavyweight domination, there's no point fighting Ruiz (or any other contender for that matter).
He'd better get his arse into gear too, his retirement at age 30 is fast approaching.

He will fight Ruiz.
The whole reason he fought Valuev was to get one of the major belts so that Wladimir and Vitali didn't hold every possible advantage in negotiations. Now he has it he will want to hold it and Ruiz has dibs on the mandatory challenge. Ruiz is horrible now anyways, so Haye should be able to beat him pretty easily and further hype a Klitschko fight.
But yeah, if one of the Klitschkos isn't his ultimate goal then there really isn't anything to talk about.
