That was one of McCallum's better ones, he totally picked Watson apart.

Chunk.

Michael Watson was better then that peformance.

Michael Watson was better then that peformance.

He was taken to school by McCallum much like Benn was taken to school by him.

Watson was always a student of the game and had great respect for McCallum, evident in the McCallum-Kalambay rematch which he commentated. He improved after every fight but we never quite got to see the best of Watson, unfortunately.

He absolutely ripped Watson apart in this fight, spirited effort from Watson but perhaps McCallum's greatest fight?

The man was no better than his rematch with Eubank. His mistake was putting Eubank on his ass. Chris had a history of being hungry after coming off the canvas, yet often didn't seem to work hard enough to win rounds provided he wasn't being hurt.

Yeah, great fight by McCallum. Shows him in all his underrated brilliance. I love McCallum's counter body punches. His right counter uppercut to the stomach is perfection, and was one of Futch's favourite counters.

Only a few fighters have used this punch well and it is simply brilliant. Campbell has a good one going for him today, though he doesn't seem to use it as much. It was the punch that really messed up Peden and made him go in with his hands down, thinking he had the fight in his hands, which were too low obviously. :lol1:

I think that fight would've just been the beginning of it to be honest. He looked better and stronger at 168.

Eubank landed a once in a lifetime uppercut after being knocked down and unfortunately Watson's head viciously hit the bottom rope, much like Duk Koo Kim and Davey Moore in the past.

Remember that he was maybe 25 or 26 at the time, there was still room for improvement.

I remember Riddick Bowe using that punch against Evander Holyfield, he would roll his chin away from the right hand and shoot that counter. Kid Chocolate was another guy who could dial that punch in.

Yeah man, that have been a lot of great fighters that use it. Duran was another one of its best proponents. Arguello also threw it quite well at times.

Watsons comments in the corner between rounds 9/10 & 10/11 its a shame they have been left out

McCallum would beat both Benn and Eubank in their primes, and it was his former victim, Irishman Steve Collins, that caught a shot Benn and Eubank.

Eubank was not shot. He also debatably beat Collins in both fights.

Eubank's career at 168 is fairly mediocre,he had so many poor performances at that weight and many decisons that he did not deserve. When he was a middleweight he was very good and it's a shame that he could no longer make the weight and he was very tentative after the second Michael Watson fight.

I've never heard anyone claim that Eubank deserved to beat Collins in either fight.

No big difference between middleweight, super-middleweight.

His best performance pre-Watson II came at super-middle against Welshman Denys Cronin in Cardiff - combinations thrown with speed, power, accuracy and dexterity and from virtually no room. And his best Ever performance came against Graciano Rocchi - post-Watson II.

At 168 Chris had Watson, Benn and Collins outdoor rematches, fights with Rocchi and Calzaghe and a fantastic night against Wharton.
