Ive found that drinking a fairly large amount of milk before sleeping (normally after a work out) is having a large effect on muscle tone/gain, anyone know why this is? Ive heard its the casien protein or something along those lines

I think is something related to lactic acid, isn't?

Milk is great before bed. A great source of protein.

Although if you want a protein source before bed, you are better off eating Cottage Cheese or buy a Casein Protein Supplement.

You're probably lactose intolerant. However a lot of people that are lactose intolerant have no problems stomaching or digesting by-products of Milk, like whey.

There is endless speculation on this. I personally think it's a load of crap. I drink a 1/2 gallon a day and no problems on my end. Same thing with Chocolate and acne.

However if you are a teenager, Acne is pretty much standard because Acne is mainly caused by fluctuating hormones.

nothing i just want to know who you think would win and i dont know about the mussele part but milk has a acid in it that helps you sleep better so that you can train harder the next day so it helps either way:boxing:

Milk contains hormones that helps to trigger muscle growth, this same hormone can also cause someone in their teens to have higher level of hormones than normal in their body, thus causing more acne. Hormone production varies from people to people (could be cultural as well, diet etc..).

Milk is also fatty, depending on your diet, it alone might provide you with all the fat intake you need for the day.

I was getting ready to say the same, that the hormones in milk may cause acne.

Honestly, I don't really see any benefit to drinking milk that you can't get from plant based sources that don't have the risks associated with them. For instance, calorie for calorie can you get a lot more calcium from eating various greens and it's better absorbed by the body.

...and irregular periods in teenage women.

But nowadays you can easily find milk that is devoid of any steroids or hormones.

I don't breakout as I said and I drink a half gallon a day

then milk is probably the next best thing
