Trinidad vs Wright

Im a big Tito fan, always have been and i am looking foward to yet another big Tito fight. I saw Vargas half ass performance againest Ray Jovel over the weekend and couldnt help think of another comeback that was not only runner up for 2004 fight of the year but also a spetacular performance by Trinidad. Trinidad has proven he doesnt run from anybody, fightin every big name that comes his way. This Winky Wright fight is just another chapter.I have two predictions.

My Trinidad fan predicition- Tito KO's Wright in 9th
My other prediction- Wright UD 12

Wright is strong, works well with a jab and can keep tito away. Tito may hit harder and be quicker around the ring but Wright is a nasty southpaw with a powerful arsenal of punches. We'll see where it goes

What does everyone else think on this major fight?

I hope Tito knocks him out, Winky wright is a good fighter but Tito is better for boxing than he is. Both of your predictions are very valid, but it wont be very good if the second one comes true...if Tito would knock him out, i would say he would do so before round 6.

Wright by UD, or possibly a late round TKO (11 or 12). The latter is highly unlikely, but I just have this hunch.......

I think Trinidad is highly overrated as a boxer. He's a great puncher and puts on a helluva show, but his boxing skill leaves alot to be desired. Against a highly skilled boxer like Wright, he's not going to be doing well. Unless he's making some big changes since his Mayorga fight, he won't be able to pull off the win in this fight.

I should also add....I've got a shameful wad of cash on this fight, but I want it understood that I'm not picking Winky because I bet on the fight....I bet on the fight because I'm picking Winky :D

Tito is one of the best fighters on earth. He sits at the #4 spot in my "pound for pound" list of the best fighters. He has the most punching power in boxing IMO, and a very decent technique...regardless of it being extremely 1 dimmensional. He could simply "take the fight" to Wright, overpowering him and ultimately breaking his will. This is the general conscensus; that he will stop Wright late in the fight. Some posters have gone as far as to say he will "thoroughly" dominate wright and end it early. He very may well have that chance:

I do not think so. Ronald is Bar None the best defensive fighter in boxing, and his ability to catch punches is unsurpassed. And when I say catch....I mean with his gloves, not his face like Arturdo Gatti. This guy is a serious threat to simply outbox anyone in the division. His gimpy-footed walking shield style is frustrating for his opponents, and his jab is a key distancing tool in his fights. I personally do not like him, or Tito, but have been so impressed by his ring generalship that I placed bets on Wright in this upcoming fight.

The fight actually playing out

Trinidad will hit Wright with serious combinations, and at points of the fight...may seem to be overwhelming Wright with damage. I believe Winky will weather the storm, and begin to counterpunch and make the fight technical in nature. His boxing style might then prove useful, in combination with his southpaw stance to "frustrate" Trinidad. I do not feel that Tito is going to knock him out. If you ask me, I think that is ridiculous. Wright has never been knocked out, and I suppose posters will reply "He never has been hit by someone like Tito before" etc. he will have trouble in landing flush shots on Winky IMO.

I see the fight going to the cards, and Winky winning a unanimous decision over Trinidad.

If Vargas beat Wright, Trinidad should run all over Wright. Trinidad by close decesion. Wright has a decent chin and I don't think he will go down in this one. Hes gone all the way in the last few fights anyway. Trinidads hand speed will just be too much for Wright.

IMO Tito will win by TKO in the late rounds (8 +). Winky can block with the gloves but Tito's punches are going to start to go thru Winki's gloves causing the damage that ultimately will result in Tito's victory. Tito's condition is going to be key since he gets better as the fight gets into the later rounds.

That would be half of what I am worth dude. I will bet you 1 million, because I have pending bets on different fights with people..and I would have to pay everyone if I lose. You fine with that?

sort of a "conflict of interest" in placing such a high bet.

Yea, you have millions of points tho, even if you win 100k wont be a big. I'm hoping that the Ruiz-Toney bets will pick up soon. BTW, I still think Trinidad will win, just not by a KO or TKO.

I think Trinidad will KO Wright in round 10.
Wright will be down early, then recover. Outbox Tito for a few rounds, before Tito putting him down for good in 10.

Tito lost my respect pulling the retirement crap but he's still has his power and some skilss...but there is no way tito can mess up again (wonder:i think the winner of this faces hpkins,right?..anyway) Tito will KTFO of Winky in the late rounds,9th-12th....this fight wont be that good, winky isnt a blood and guts fighter,he has no power to be a threat, easy f**king win for tito :boxing: .

I`m shocked at the support for Tito. Its fantastic that a fighter can be dominted totally, then KOed by a 36yr old middleweight then comeback after two years a 200% better fighter. Gotta see this fight in may!

Well that 36 year old fighter (now 40) has dominated every man he has faced for 10 years plus, so there is no shame in it.

I like both fighters ... I'm going to pick ... Tito. I think Hopkins and De La Hoya both really exposed weaknesses in Tito's style, but I'm not sure if Winky will be able to shut him down like Hopkins did. I think Tito will win.

Tito-Wright will be a great fight and i kno Tito is going to win and this is why: BOth Tito & Wright both fight well when going forwards and krappy when going backwards. The kay to win this fight is who is the agressor. Winky won't have the power to make tito go backward, so basically tito will be going forward. Tito's weakness isn't a boxer... its latteral movement. both delahoya and hopkins used latteral movement to make tito look dumb. wright doesn't have enough footspeed and is too flat footed to do this to tito. i see Tito wining by late round KO/TKO over accumulation of punishment to the body andface.

TRUE,,,,there is no shame in that(losing to hopkins, any middleweight from the past would have had trouble with hopkins)...but if.."IF" tito is waiting for hopkisn to get old and beats a old hopkins and thinks that will erase the memomory of hopkins woning him 4 years ago,he is deadly wrong...but tito will take winky no problem.

I bet this fight will be boring if winky goes into his shell and fights his typical defensive hold and bash like Ruiz if this happens i say Wright by UD, but tito could land one of his trademark toma-hawks and Ko winky's ass.

But i really don't like either boxer so I Don't care who wins i just want some good action

I guess DLH loss to Hopkins is more shameful since Hopkins was older. Tito's unidimensional style is easy to figure, that's why his record is 42-1 with 35 ko.

What in the hell else did you think he was going to do? We are talking about Wright here. He will make the fight boring, but nonetheless win. He is too crafty for Trinidad. Hopkins was, Wright will be. Tito is awesome, but 1 dimmensional. Wright is a threat to expose "just this".

I have to go with Tito. Wright is a good fighter, But he is a classical fighter i think Tito is to fast and his landing % is great. But you never know. but Tito by late tko

how did that decision made you lose respect for Tito, im not a big fan of Tito and i think thats was the smartest thing he could do, ppl should've really known that Tito wasn't gonna fully retire, he just needed to rest and recover and i thought that was a smart move. Even tho i dont like Tito that much i was expecting and hoping he came back, he does alot of good for boxing, and he gives the ppl what they want. I agree with what you said about how this will be an easy win for Tito, i dont think winky can take Tito's power, he wont be able to do what Hopkins and DLH did to him thats for sure.

I wouldn't say that, even tho DLH was younger doesnt mean anything, Hopkins kept his cool and waited for an opening, just like any smart and seasond fighter should and he cought him good.

Wow, look at all these Trinidad picks.

Anyone want to give me 100/1 odds on a late TKO stoppage by Wright? With all the love for Tito on this thread, it shouldn't be difficult to find those odds on such a long-shot :)

I've got like 14,000 points, c'mon, someone give me some sucker's odds on this BIG-ass long shot. Make yourself a cool 14 grand, and win bragging rights :D
