View Full Version : Greg Page
catskills23 03-28-2005, 04:53 PM Greg Page in his prime was suppose to be the second coming of ali . I have heard that page was able to float around the ring like ali . Is this true ? . Was a young page in alis league in footspeed and footmovement ? .
Dynamite76 04-15-2005, 12:48 AM Comparable but not the real thing.
Kid Achilles 04-15-2005, 12:49 AM It's hard to tell Catskills. I could get into it but I don't have time tonight.
catskills23 05-01-2005, 03:32 PM Was page quicker on his feet than tyrell biggs ? .
Tha Greatest 05-01-2005, 05:09 PM No, he wasnt....
Do you have a foot fetish?
!! Anorak 05-01-2005, 05:11 PM I meant to ask about this guy the other day... if he could KD Tyson in sparring, why did he never try a real fight with him?
Dynamite76 07-25-2005, 07:12 PM By the time Greg had done the deed to Tyson, he wasn't the same fighter he was in the early part of the decade.Shame, because he had the ability to take Tyson.
badblood 07-25-2005, 07:46 PM He was alot of hype.
marvdave 07-25-2005, 08:39 PM He was never close to Ali. He was lazy and out of shape most of the time. He got his title from Coetzee, but never reached his true potential. Overall a respectable career, but not what it could have been.
Having said that, I feel badly for his current condition and wish Boxing would do something to help him. He is a good guy. I had the opportunity to meet him in Vegas a few years back before the tragedy. I think he hit on my wife :D He was very cordial and friendly.
Prayers to him
Noo Bomb 07-25-2005, 10:19 PM too much hype.
Dynamite76 07-30-2005, 04:20 PM Maybe he was too much hype, but the man won the belt, which Gerry Cooney and a few others can't say.
badblood 07-30-2005, 04:24 PM Bro, I wouldnt excatly call him a champion. If you havent seen him fight, you need too. You'll agree that the guy was garbage.
I havn't seen him fight yet.
badblood 07-30-2005, 04:32 PM He sucked outloud.
JohnThomas1 07-31-2005, 08:12 AM I beg to differ badblood. The man had some ordinary fights but he had some rippers too. He was lazy and never went close to realizing his potential. In fights against LeDoux and Monroe he was awesome. Against Berbick, Witherspoon and Tubbs he was listless. He did however have vast amounts of talent. His speed was in the Ali/Holmes/Dokes range and he hit harder with the right than all of them. He took a good punch and had a jab second to Holmes in the heavies. But yes, motivation was his prob. With the dedication and professionalism of say a Holmes i firmly believe he would have met Tyson in Tyson's initial title bout. I remember Witherspoon knocking his mouthpiece out and Page being so unbelievably fast actually caught it.
Greg page would beat he **** out of Ruiz, Byrd, Brewster and give Vitali a damn good fight at his peak no doubt, he would be a really decent champion if he were around now, Bad blood you really shouldnt judge people on the end of their careers dude. In his prime Greg would probably unify the belts at this present time.
he is to be inducted into the IBHOF also this year which doesbnt happen if you "suck"
Asides from this Greg and his tragic last fight have lead to reforms in boxing bills across the US, and his constant battle against his injuries is an inspiration to us all.
i dont think the words Greg Page and suck should be used on the same page, let alone the same sentence.
jabsRstiff 08-01-2005, 07:20 AM He was extremely talented. Falls into the "wasted talent" category.
Fat, lazy, frustrating S.O.B.
Dynamite76 08-08-2005, 05:07 PM Bro, I wouldnt excatly call him a champion. If you havent seen him fight, you need too. You'll agree that the guy was garbage.
Many of his fights that happened, Greg didn't look the best. However, if you ever get the chance, see his fight versus Marty Monroe, that's the best fight that Greg has had as a professional. He completely broke Marty down.
SliqueJab 08-08-2005, 05:16 PM He was more of wasted talent then unfulfilled potential. He was pushing his limit and became tragic victim of dark side of boxing.

He may have been faster than Holmes.
