Without those quick feet the best thing is to slip punches and get inside your opponent's reach. The young Mike was an avid learner who paid great attention to detail.. He'd spend hours watching footage of old fights, and worked for obsessive hours in the gym, perfecting the moves of his hero's.. I know that 2 of his favorites were Joe Gans and Jack Dempsey..
