What was the magnitude of the last one? 8.5 is a pretty bad quake. Hard to imagine the first was stronger.

The last one was all the way up to 9, I think.

Not sure what determines if the quake will cause a tsunami. Guess it has to go with where it hits..how far into the open water and so on. Hopefully this is just a false alarm.

that would totally suck. tsunamis are devastating, and there isnt anything to do to prevent a tsunami from happening... hopefully another one dont happen

According to the news today, there are somewhere between 200-2000 people dead...many buried alive under the debris from fallen homes, etc. :(

It looked pretty bad...all the damage. many building and homes destroyed. I guess they got a little lucky though cause there was no tsunami..the scientists keep making 'guesses' as to why there was none. :confused: I think the saddest part was watching all those people run for higher ground, just in case.

I wish that I was an animal. Anybody notice that in any of the pictures of the post-tsunami damage there were no little critters around? Animals can sense that **** coming. I'm sure there were no animals involved in Pompei either.

They do have an uncanny ability to sense things like that (smarter than most of us alot of the times :D ). I think theyre good at sensing danger and evil (alot of people crack up when I say that but damn I think it's true)

lol, I was being serious weinee! :p They do sense **** like that..as for apples, my dog wouldnt dodge them, she'd eat them! :D Matter of fact, she tries to chase bees, but I try and stop her cause I dont want her tongue and head to swell up! :eek:
