Once again, Wladimir Klitschko is fighting on a night where there is a bigger card going on.

Oct. 2 he fought the least interesting bout on Showtime's tripleheader that was head-to-head with Trinidad vs. Mayorga on PPV.

Now he's fighting relatively unknown (one national TV fight) Eliseo Castillo up against the quadruple-header PPV debut for ESPN...

There are tons of Klitschko fans on this site, but this fight surely won't come close to being as good as Margarito/Cintron. Other PPV fights that night are Elder vs. Diaz, Mosley vs. Estrada, and McCline vs. Brock.

HBO is not advertising any undercards, even though Nicolai Valuev and Vitali Tsypko are both listed as being in the same ring as Wlad's fight.

Is the PPV worth the 30 bucks? Is the free Wlad fight enough to keep you from ordering the PPV? Or is that why they invented Tivo?

I am eagerly awaiting the return of Wladimir Klitschko. I will be watching that fight, with beer in hand. Shouting "yes!" if he knocks Castillo out cold. Making Corny fist pumps and all.

oh yes. He is all hooked up, Showtime and all. He even has ESPN Classics so I can catch all the old documentaries on my favorite fighters. I hope I'm nott using him for his awesome cable hookups. You don't understand the greatness of this situation. I get to see MOrales. I get to see Vitali. I get to see Toney. I get to everyone and everything and directly after fights I get to make out . I think he's a keeper :D He's got everything station wise but he's not really a boxing fan himself.

I'm pretty sure that everyone is going to know how the Wlad fight turns out before the ESPN card, because its in Germany and I heard that they aren't going to wait around for however many hours Germany is ahead of the the U.S. east coast. So the fight is going to happen at around mid day EST. So with that being said I'll watch the ESPN card and catch the replay of the Wlad fight on later in the night...if its worth watching. I'd like to find out if they are showing any of the other fights because Valuev is on the undercard even though I thought he got hurt.

LOL - I didn't realize it was tape delayed. I remember seeing on the bottom line on ESPN2 that Wlad had been KO'd by Sanders. I called my buddy who I was going to watch the fight with and said, "hey it only goes two rounds. I'll just watch it here..."

Damn, you guys serious?

The ESPN card is a very solid card. All four fights have some sort of intrigue to them.

The Mosley/Estrada is a crossroads for Mosley. No one wants to see if he can get it back at Welter?

McCline/Brock will be okay. If Brock wins this one he's def a contender. I don't think he will though. Jameel's too damn big.

Diaz/Elder will be pretty decent. Both guys will give it their all. Obviously Diaz has more to give, but still a decent scrap.

Margarito/Cintron-----Need I say more?

I'll catch the Wlad fight afterwards on HBO-W or something. But The 30 dollars for the espn card is very reasonable.

If you can afford it you should support it. From a business approach, if it sells really well then maybe, just maybe the big-wigs over at HBO might think about dropping their PPV price just a LITTLE. But that's a very big maybe.

That's totally the wrong way to watch this show. You can't really pick and choose episodes to check out. Each episode depends on you having seen all the prior episodes; that's the only chance you have at trying to follow what's going on...

I live in the Netherlands and I'm thinking of going to Germany to see Wladimir's fight for real. We don't have any great fighter here, and W. Klitschko is the best that I will be able to see for a long time. I don't think that his opponent will be much of a deal because they are going to put a last minute man in with Wladimir because the bum he was supposed to fight cancelled. Not really sure if I'm going to Germany though, I hate the Germs.

By the way, this is my first post here, I am looking foreward to posting here!

Was all for the ppv, I wont order in revolt of what Tracy pointed out to me. Instead I will be saving my money and just catch the fights the next day instead....Besides HBO is burning a hole in my pocket with Fana/Barrera Trinidad/Wright Mayweather/Gatti.

Chances are I probably wont watch the HBO fight either...All the good fights so far this year aside from Gatti vs Mayweather are all on HBO or Showtime...I am just drooling over Castillo vs Corrales.

Geez, buddy...what's not to like? There's about a 99% chance of seeing someone get badly beaten up, no matter which brother you're watching fight :D

Seriously, though....Vlad has alot of potential, and I'm hoping he returns in a confidant manner. Either way, I'll be watching that fight. I'm not big into anyone on the PPV card, and I don't have any cash riding on any of those fights, so it's Vlad for me. I've got a buddy in Oklahoma who's a big McCline fan who'll be taping the PPV for me to pick up on my next fishing trip after that fight, so I'll get to see it and the undercards. Cintron should be a pretty good fight. McCline is going to get hurt.

Personally I think that the ESPN PPV is pretty solid and at only 30.00 bucks (which by PPV standards is pretty cheap) we are getting four quality and entertaining fights... Plus Wlad's last fight against 'Touch of Sleep' did not really do it for me... So I guess you have my choice.

PS- I am going to a fight at Turning Stone Casino in NY (it is a Tarvis Simms bout) I was wondering if anybody had any idea if this fight is going to be televised?

neils7147933
04-06-2005, 12:19 AM
I've never seen Tarvis Simms on TV, but that doesn't mean it's not televised. Maybe MSG or another on the satellite sports pak?

I dropped 20 bucks on the Tua PPV last week - and those 4 fights were replays. The ESPN card looks a lot better to me, plus HBO will replay the Wlad fight Sunday morning and night on HBO2...

NiGe2011
04-06-2005, 03:15 AM
Haha, yeah. The only time that I have seen Simms on TV is when he was fighting Bronco McCartt on some undercard... I was just curious...

In any event, I am lobbying for people to pay for this PPV card on ESPN! It is better then half the **** that GoldenBoy and Don King Productions are throwing out there for a much cheaper price!

Both Travis and Tarvis Simms (twins) used to box in the Ballroom on a fairly regular basis...thats on a few southern channels ;)
Funny you mention him...a while back they got busted (supposedly) when one of them showed up for the weigh in of a fight for his bro. instead of the bro. that was supposed to fight! I dont know which one it was, or why they even tried it, but they did get caught. I can easily see them getting away with something like that cause theyre identical twins..same wt. division and everything!
