If Rua didn't win the fight with his leg kicks than Page is still LHW champ, I won't argue either way.
There is a big difference in the two fights though. Griffin vs Rua left the leg kicker all beat and bruised while Rua beat Machida in spirit.
Machida was completely stumped on what to do next because simply reacting to Rua actions wasn't enough. Rampage on the other hand just got serious and started to turn it on as he should have done in the first place.
What it all comes down to is this:
You don't need to be a rocket scientist to recognize an ass whoopin when you see one.
So who's the people champ Page or Shogun ?
