View Full Version : Why Barrera will beat Morales!
INFAMOUZ 11-24-2004, 01:47 PM Barrera is going outbox Morales and here is why!
Morales is going be over aggressive looking for the KO, Morales will not be patient enough, when hes not patient he loops/wings his shots and tends to fight in close taking away his reach advantage. These factors will all work against him as Barrera will offset this aggression with angles and great counter punching in the first half of the fight. He will outbox Morales in the early rounds wearing EM down and battling with him toe to toe in the latter rounds pulling out a UD. BELIEVE IT!
P.S Eric gets stank eye after every fight! lol.
WAR BARRERA!!
barrera is an old man. hes finished. pacman took away his confidence. there is no point morrales even taking this fight. he should have fought chi, pacman, or harrison instead. barrera is finished now. he will lose in the 8th.
ill bet points with you
jack_the_rippuh 11-24-2004, 02:00 PM It will be a really close fight...too close for me to call, but if I had to choose I'd give the edge to Morales, only because of Barrera not being able to do what he use to be able to do..
goodkingbudpuffer 11-24-2004, 02:07 PM I truly hope MAB pulls it out, but the terrible one is a pound for pound contender, i think @ the wght. they are fighting at it has to favor Morales, gonna be a great scrap i hope more along the lines of the 1st one as opposed to #2, but regardless i'll be watching
DR. FREECLOUD 11-24-2004, 02:30 PM i think that both of these guys have changed as fighters since they last met. what kills me is how everyone discredits barrera after pac-man dismantled him. i bet this fight is going to suprise alot of people. mab is only 2 years older than erik. 30 years is not that old. what makes him older is the amount of that time spent in the ring. half of his life as a pro! morales is no newbie himself. he's going on 12 years pro. so really i don't see where, in any of the aspects, mab is really that much older that it makes a difference.
t_tsuguri 11-24-2004, 02:30 PM i like both guys but im rooting for morales just so he can fight pac
trinidadpr87 11-24-2004, 02:56 PM barrera is an old man. hes finished. pacman took away his confidence. there is no point morrales even taking this fight. he should have fought chi, pacman, or harrison instead. barrera is finished now. he will lose in the 8th.

they said barrera was old and out of his prime the first fight after he lost to junior jones twice.
he was under 30 then. hes 31 now, and had over 60 fights. in featheweight terms hes an old man. morrales will ko him in the latter rounds. then a match up with pacman will be fight of the year if it gets made
m00ks 11-24-2004, 03:51 PM The only way MAB can win in my opinion is via knockout and that's not going to happen at 130. Morales will edge him towards a UD. Even if it's a close fight, I don't see the judges giving Barrera the decision, considering what is at stake. Morales is about to move up to fight in megafights or probably face Pacquaio. He can't afford to lose. Arum can't afford him losing. So he will win. Close or not he is going to get the decision.
As much as people are hyping this fight, it won't be a war. Since MAB got the decision last fight by starting slow and fight a more tactical fight, he will be inclined to repeat the same type of performance. He would not go to war against Morales, maybe in the championship rounds but thats it. You will not see a Morales-MAB 1. This will be more or less the same fight as the second one with the exception of Morales getting the win.
Fat Shamz 11-24-2004, 04:44 PM I say Barrera will win and this is why:
He beat Morales before so why not again?
Barrera hasnt had his confidence crushed just by getting beaten, i bet you he learnt more after his defeat then he would have winning.
Barrera is more a strategic fighter than Morales. Barrera can anticipate whats gonna come from Morales, whilst Morales wont mind taking one and giving one, but Morales doesnt seem to have good judgement as to how hard the punch really is.
Barrera will win
Eyeh8you 11-24-2004, 04:45 PM barrera is an old man. hes finished. pacman took away his confidence. there is no point morrales even taking this fight. he should have fought chi, pacman, or harrison instead. barrera is finished now. he will lose in the 8th.

Where did you get this that MAB lost his confidence after PAC. THE ONLY FIGHT HE HAD AFTER WARD HE DESTROYED HIS OPPONENT.!!!!!!!1
Man some of this fukin idiots just post complete madeup fairytales
amaru 11-24-2004, 04:57 PM i feel that barrera will pull this out. the same questions were asked about barrera when he fought morales the first time. barrera and morales now eachother. morales is not gonna come with anything new against barrera. its just gonna come down to who wants it more. barrera has more to prove in this fight and i think hes gonna pull it off.
dpfinley 11-24-2004, 05:00 PM If I had cash on the fight I'd go with Morales, but I would love to see Barrera finish on top... I always want to see the underdog come out on top.
I think the weight isn't that big of a factor because Morales has always been bigger. The problem will be with his frame and reach abilities. His long jab is going to be more powerful and keep MAB outside, like he does with all his opponents. If MAB takes that away, he will have a good chance.
However, I don't think there will be a KO, but if there is, I'd say EM will be delivering it really late...
he never looked the same in the paulie ayala fight from the highlights i saw
phallus 11-24-2004, 05:34 PM i think the odds favor Morales on this one, because of the weight, but i am a Barrera fan and have been since around 94 or 95, and i've seen him come back from devatating KO before, i don't think his confidence is rattled at all. i think people are underestimating Barrera because he undersestimated Pac and got his ass whooped, he won't underestimate Morales

Morales is gonna take this one and finally put Barrera in retirement!

MAB isn't finished yet. Being old does not mean a boxer should retire. Look at Hopkins. It is how you can still box and win. As I have seen in the MAB vs. Ayala, I know MAB has still the guts and power to win. MAB can still beat Morales if he is patient. Morales can't even KO him in their previous fights.
.::|ULTIMATE|::. 11-24-2004, 07:35 PM Morales is gonna win and here is why..
Barrera respects Morales and his power, Morales on the other hand dont respect anyone, that will give him the mental edge. Morales will land right hands all night long and Barrera will go down. Morales will be relentless and Barrera will remember why he elected to change his fighting style after their first bout. That respect will keep Barrera from getting off on his good reflexes because he will be thinking way too much in a fight where its gonna go down to who has the mental strength to be arrogant and let their reflexes do the work.

Where the hell did you get this **** that MAB respects Morales power? MAB even got Morales on the corner because of his fist and even KD Morales. I say both guys has their own style. If MAB is patient he can KO Morales or vice versa. This is 50-50 chance.

I agree Morales by KO in the late rounds!
ispayder 11-24-2004, 07:45 PM I really like to see a MAB vs Pacman II just to erase the notion that MAB had a bad night, off night, understimated Pacman, etc. However, the chances are getting slim as the fight with Erik comes near. He looks like a loser already because of his failure to show up at their presscon.

Where the hell do u say MAB KD'ed Morales? It wasnt even a legit knockdown there wasnt even a punch when Morales went down, it was a push with Barrera's hip. He obviously respects his power, right after their fight Barrera started boxing from the outside against everyone, his first fight with his new style (right after Morales bout) he was asked why he had changed his style he said "I've noticed that i been taking too many punches". Second bout it was Barrera running through most of the fight. It's only obvious.
dpfinley 11-24-2004, 07:52 PM A big question is: IS THIS GOING TO BE A BOXING MATCH OR A NON-STOP BRAWL???
They both hate each other so much... hope its a straight brawl - Morales wins.

Morales will win. Here's why brotha:
Morales just read your post. hahahaha LOL :D
Seriously, he's smart enough not to let his warrior's brawling instinct take over. I see him boxing from the outside, keeping Barrera at a safe distance at the end of his stiff jab, frustrating him, and when MAB comes in....boom! the right hand.
Morales wins..

Yeah but he almost went down before that if it wasn't to the ropes. ha.. ha.. and that's how smart boxer like MAB comprehend with the experience he got. You change your style and mature. It is by learning through your experience and not that he is afraid of Morales power or respect that. That's a total crap. He was right when he said his taking too many chances and he changed his style. This means you can't win a fight by just brawling or standing toe to toe with an opponent. It is how you outwit them or if you still can't understand - "IT IS BY USING YOUR HEAD".
dpfinley 11-24-2004, 08:18 PM Some of you guys need to catch up on you Morales v Barrera history:
Press Release: '...HBO Sports will present the exclusive re-broadcast of the first two chapters in the exciting rivalry between Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera when the presentation MORALES-BARRERA I & II airs Friday, November 26 (10:00 p.m. ET/PT) and Saturday, November 27 (4:00 p.m. ET/PT) on the HBO2 service...'

Thats exactly it, so you think he was winning in the second fight those rounds he was running away in, he was basically giving the rounds away to Morales.
MAB was already a very technically sound fighter, the reason why so many shots hit him in his first fight against Morales was cus Morales was relentless he was throwing 70 - 80 punches a round. It wasnt because his technique was wrong.. had his technique been wrong MAB would have won the second fight lopsidedly because Morales didnt change a thing from their first fight to the second.
Xecutioner 11-24-2004, 08:22 PM i think the morales kd was legit. barrera hit him with double left hooks, to the body then the head and collapsed shortly after. morales knocked barrera down in the 2nd fight with a vicious straight right to the body. much cleaner knockdown but for some reason not scored

There you said it. It means MAB is a smart boxer. He won the 2nd bout because he changed his style and learn. I say MAB is smarter than Morales but with this fight all I can say is that they both have 50-50 chance. It's up to Bob Arum if he can pull a miracle just like Pacquiao vs. JMM.

I don't think that just because he said that means that he respects Morales' power all that much. The first match was hell and both fighters came out battered and bruised. I'm sure there was concerns on his part specially with the whole operation (metal plate in his head). If he really respected Morales' power exclusively, he would only box against EM and EM alone and would still go to war against anybodyelse. But no, he changed his fighting style, more for self preservation in my opinion, not because Morales' power haunted him for the rest of his career. If anything, he should respect Junior Jones' and Pacquiao's power more than Morales', because these two boxers put the hurt on him more than Erik did.

thats what I'm thinking and thats what I saw. But Ultimate said that they replayd it in different angles and said no punch connected which is surpising beacuse the way I remeber it, the ref was in perfect view. Anyweyz, I'll take his word for it.

But they can't change the fact that MAB almost KD Morales if it wasn't to the rope. Morales was wobbly before the referee called it KD on Rnd 12 of their 2nd bout. They both have 50-50 chance on this third bout. But Morales has a great advantage because of his influential promoter. If Morales will not be KD by MAB, I can say Morales will win this. ARUM plays a big role here.
itsbusdriver 11-24-2004, 09:34 PM the heart wants Barrera to win.. but Morales has the edge.. it would be devastating for Barrera and his fans if he were to end his carreer like this(if its going to be another Pac vs MAB)
It's 50-50 chance but I know this will be a great fight coz this will show to the world who the number 1 mexican fighter between the two. THIS IS THE FINAL BATTLE!

It will be an even, toe-to-toe fight, very much like the previous two. I think they now know each other's style, weakness and strength inside out, so it will just be a replay of I and II. Whatever, it should be a very exciting bout, with the winner facing the winner of the other coming super-fight - JMM-PacMan!

I hope it will be Morales and Pacquiao in the future to know who is really the Best of the Best. I'm voting Pacquiao on this.
Zab Super Judah 11-24-2004, 11:56 PM I think morales wins this one easily
I think morales wins this one easily
Easily? ha.. ha.. Very very very impossible. I don't think MAB will allow that. Over his dead body. 50-50 chance maybe.
Zab Super Judah 11-25-2004, 12:03 AM we will see....i dont think barrera beating paulie means hes back.....but i guess you could never count out MAB
