View Full Version : Dan Hardy vs Mike Swick
Move BRICKS™ 10-28-2009, 03:54 PM Anyone else excited for this fight? Two guys who have no problem throwing everything but the kitchen sink going toe to toe. I'll bet that it's going to be an entertaining fight to say the least, but i believe Swick takes this one. I like both fighters, further - The sport needs more "villains" like Dan Hardy, but at UFC 105 he is going to get cracked by Swick.
Who do you guys have?
vinnie7731 10-28-2009, 04:07 PM yeah, should be a great fight, both guys like to press the action. i see swick being a bit quicker to make contact and pull out of the pocket. i think he tags hardy and wins tko. also i would like swick to win cause hardy is a bit much for me.
Mrpedigree 10-28-2009, 04:13 PM I hope Hardy gets Fcuked up !:boxing:
Swicka-teen:rofl:
StillUnknown 10-28-2009, 05:21 PM i still dont understand how the winner of this fight gets the next title shot
whoever wins this fight, still won't have a win over a top 10 WW, yet they will get a shot at the belt
as for the fight, i'm rooting for Hardy, but i dont think he'll be able to stand with Swick. i got Swick by TKO

Who else is gonna get a title shot? the best contender is and probably always will be Jon Fitch and he got steamrolled last time. Dana is trying to give the champ new faces, a lesson he learned with Anderson Silva after the thrashings of Rich Franklin
Josh Koscheck beat Frank Trigg but got stopped by Paulo Thiago who just lost to Jon Fitch.
the hands of the Welterweight division are tied by GSP's dominance. I wanna see Paulo Thiago against Paul Daley to see if Daley can overcome the ground since he couldt before.
I actually wanna see a healthy Matt Serra back in action, people dont give him enough credit, he hangs tough with the big boys and his boxing looks much improved.
If Anthony Johnson can beat Josh Koscheck then i'm pretty sure he's either close or gonna get a title shot.

Why not?
First of all being that pretty much everyone else in the division besides Johnson has already fought and lost to GSP. Swick and Hardy haven't, they need to keep things interesting.
Fitch may be the logical choice but he's already lost to GSP and they don't need to do recycled, pointless rematches if they have opponents on tap that GSP hasn't fought before.
Not like matters though Swick and Hardy would both get raped by GSP. Johnson probably too.
StillUnknown 10-28-2009, 07:50 PM i understand you guys' points: GSP has been dominant and has pretty much cleared the division. i get all that
i just have a problem with any fighter getting a tite shot with no top 10 wins on their resume

Not much else choice with what they have available.
The person who should be fighting GSP right now, that makes sense is Jake Shields, but unfortunately is with Strikefarce
tocayito1 10-28-2009, 09:38 PM swick has too much hand speed for hardy i think that makes the difference in the fight and swick stops him in the 1st
Dan Hardy is pretty solid tho although I thot he lost to Akihiro Gono, Hardy can still bang and trains with the Rough House boys

Dorian 10-28-2009, 10:17 PM Fitch Vs Pitbull Alves is on for UFC 107, Fitch should win(again) then he deserves a rematch.
Princemanspopa 10-30-2009, 11:55 AM Dan Hardy is complete ****e,he isn't any good and looks like a complete prat. This fight won't be exciting, need I remind you to what everybody was saying before the Swick-Davis fight? everyone thought,oh well, two strikers,it should be a really fun fight to watch, and it sucked complete dick,Swick just took him down constantly and won a dominant decision.Hardy was exposed in his last fight and recieved a gift decision,if Davis can take him down, then Swick won't have any issue in doing so either, both would get destroyed by St Pierre
StillUnknown 10-30-2009, 02:09 PM Fitch Vs Pitbull Alves is on for UFC 107, Fitch should win(again) then he deserves a rematch.
that fight is now off, Alves hurt his PCL
th4l3pr3ch4un 10-30-2009, 02:20 PM Swick has come into his last few fights in unbelievable shape at 170.. He is leaner then ever and is letting his hands go everytime.. If he KO's Dan Hardy then he should be considered top 5 in the division.
GroundSt.Pound 10-30-2009, 02:56 PM Doesn't really matter who wins. Both would get crushed by GSP.
But at the moment this fight is a toss-up for me. Dan has great striking, not that Swick doesn't but it's no better than Dan's. In fact I give Dan the advantage in power and Swick speed and killer instinct.
Dan also has a great chin, Swick on the other hand has shown vulnerability in the past and the fact that he doesn't tuck and protect his chin when he throws could be bad for Swick.
I'm taking Swick but I wouldn't be surprised if Dan knocked him out
MJ406 10-30-2009, 04:27 PM I didn't know about Swick's chin .. good point bringing that up
solid point about needing a top 10 win to challenge for a title shot, but GSP already ran through Penn, Fitch and Alves ... Hardy's coming onto the scene really quick
and Swick's 4-0 at Welterweight, looking good in every fight except his debut at 170 vs Burkman
so a title shot for the winner of the 2 might seem premature however considering GSP's been wiping out top contenders left and right .. why not a title shot for the Swick-Hardy winner?

yeah Serra's got to shake off a 2 fight losing streak.
and as for Rumble I was thinking the same exact thing ... if he gets by Kos he's probably a couple (1-2 ) wins away from fighting for the belt.
Fitch Vs Pitbull Alves is on for UFC 107, Fitch should win(again) then he deserves a rematch.
I read the fight was off too. bummer.
phallus 11-02-2009, 10:00 PM neither of these guys can stand in the octagon with GSP, anthony rumble johnson would be a better fight, until GSP takes him down and rapes him with the wrestling. i would like to see jake shields against GSP, like the other guy said, now that would be a good fight

I think GSP would flatten Shields faster then he would Swick or Hardy. Shields was getting handled by Paul Daley til it hit the floor, he doesnt have that luxury wit GSP.
The Number 6 11-03-2009, 12:50 PM Swick edges this one. He has a big advantage on the ground, even though Dan is good at defending when he is on the ground and good at getting back to his feet he will find himself well behind on points.
Swick matches him with striking aswell.
Swick r3 GnP ref stoppage or ud.
