Is it me or does he discriminate on certain fighters? I was hoping for a ceiling light to break and fall on his to send him to early retirement I think hes about as done as lederman <-- no one beleives him or his cards. :boxing:

I hate Larry Merchant. He p***es me off. Honestly the way he hates on so many fighters really gets to me. I loved when he and George used to fight. That was funny. As for Lederman, i dont mind him. I sometimes agree with his scoring, they are usually reasonably accurate.

I think that is the real reason why George Foreman left HBO. He couldn't stand Larry Merchant.

i miss George, he was my favorite out of all the commentators. Larry Merchant is a stupid druken loser and should be fired, he should have been fired a long time ago.

Or maybe he just wanted more money and HBO wasn't willing to do that. In any case Larry Merchant stays, he's good.

Larry says what he wants, I dont think there's anything wrong with it. The fact that there's so many threads about him shows hes doing his job well, he's getting attention.

It's the cool thing to do, I could really rip on the announcers of showtime if I wanted to. Bottle up Lampley/Merchant/Steward/Leonard/Jones/Foreman all into one and it doesnt match the size of the ******* of Jim Gray on Showtime.

One thing that people need to forget is that Larry is a throwback type of guy and still thinks it is the early 60-70s. But Larry likes guys who put their heart and guts into it and a lot of fighters dont show that courage. Larry also likes it when the best fight the best, prime example Pacman vs Morales Larry was cool the whole way through the fight and interviews because he respects them.

They are true to the game and so is Larry.

Poor Jim Gray gets stuck interviewing the volatile fighters. He had to talk to Golota when he quit vs. Tyson, Tyson after he bit Holyfield, Toney who was pissed for some reason when he thought Gray disrespected Holyfield...

I never card for Bobby Czyz.

Whatever, Larry Merchant is just as bad as Jim Gray, actually worse because he bull****s about it. Jim Gray is at least blunt as hell with it.

Merchant is a ****ing joke. But yeah Lederman has just ****ing lost his mind completely. How the **** he scores fights is beyond me. Its like he gets the fighters mixed up or something. No way in hell you could give Joval a round, except maybe that one round where Joval got the low blow that wasn't counted against him. That was his best round.

Merchant's scorecards are typically MUCH better than Lederman's but that doesn't change the fact that Merchant is an old little *****. He isn't doing a good job if we're talking about him. That's like saying Scott Peterson did a good job because he got a lot of publicity.

The reason Merchant gets **** said about him is because he ****ing knows better. Of course we don't bother ripping into Fran Charles or Bob Papa or Kevin Corke b/c they don't know jack **** anyhow, literally. Everybody on the boxingscene forums know more than those guys, they're just general sports journalists. Lampley's an ass too, but not to the extent of Merchant at all.

They also have more HBO telecasts and more important telecasts on HBO, so I don't rip into Bernstein as much as I should. Bernstein is a dumb **** too. He's often wrong on his scorecards about as bad as Lederman. The fight I remember the best is Ouma vs. Candelo where Ouma was tearing the **** out of Candelo every round...Berstein kept commentating how Candelo was doing so great (which was completely flat out wrong, Ouma was UNDENIABLY destroying Candelo). In the 9th when Ouma stopped him, Bernstein sat there in silence from shock for like 10 seconds. His stupid ass couldn't see the inevitable knockout coming. ANYBODY could see it.

But look at Showtime's recent fights and hell even upcoming fights. They're not AS good usually, and they only have 1 Saturday big show a month. I personally like Steve Farhood a lot. I was hoping Farhood would be Czyz's final replacement, but no they had to bring in ****head Bernstein.

I love Larry that guy is the best plain and simple. I couldn't even imagine watching boxing without him.

Jim Gray is a no knowldge ass clown. Larry has a right to talk the way he talks he's been in boxing longer than Gray has been alive.

He is so dorky it makes me want to "lash out at my television screen". That coalesced with his annoying voice makes Al Berndstein my favorite announcer in comparison to Farhood.

Al Berndstein and Bobby CzYz are my 2 absolute favorites.

Sports journalists and commentators get paid to give their opinions. That obviously gives him a right to his opinion. In fact, it's his responsibility...

you could see how vargas was affected when merchant interupted him when he was saying something to castelijo. that was ****ty as hell, wether he's an analyist or not he should'nt have done that. i know everyone cant understand the language vargas was speaking but what merchant did was just being a straight up ****ty person

Vargas was clever to say his prayer in Spanish so Merchant didn't know what he was doing until he was finished. Cause Merchant is always a dick about anybody saying "Praise God" or even giving "shout outs" after a fight. They just stood there and brought ratings to HBO and Merchant's idiot self can't give them a few seconds to let them have an open mic? We have to sit through his bs at the end.

i hate merchant because he rambles for like 7 minutes before he actually attemtps tp make his point.
