Say that Trinidad's low blows on Vargas were intentional? If Lampley did that, it was totally uncalled for and a terrible assumption. Trinidad-Vargas was a terrific fight, perhaps one of the best ever and in the heat of the moment, low blows, headbutts, punches behind the head, and all those things happen. No need for comments like that.

It was clearly intentional and he repeted it several times, that's tito's style when he's in trouble. Vargas impressed a lot in that fight by staying so cool after getting KD!

Here come the haters! Go on, have a ball! Expose your biased opinions! Regardless of what you think or what was or whatever, Lampley did not have to mention that. Damn!

Tito did save his own ass with consecutive low blows man no denying that good defensive strategy though. Better than Pacman Spitting out his mouth peice vs Morales.

i hate to agree with Vkrew but come the **** on, did u see round 4? that mauling left hook had tito on his way out, that low blow was on purpose, without it it woulda been a W tko 4 for vargas, i was disgusted and how dare u rip lampley for speaking the truth, u a tito nut hugger or something?

Tito is a little ***** just like his nuthuggers. Why do you think he ran back to PR for two years, because he doesn't have the character to bounce back right away. He cheated to beat Vargas too. To quote Hopkins ," Tito is the dumbest fighter I've ever fought. He can't adapt and is one dimensional".

That was totally uncalled for. I agree. Trinidad is no dirtier than any other "percieved dirty" fighter. He sure as hell is not dirtier than Hopkins or Golota....whom I rarely see accused in such a manner by their fans. Now these people are going to go to the extent and say:

"Fugg Tito and his fans. He is Dirty and SUCKS".

That is going a bit too far people. He likes to mix it up like everyone else and sometimes things happen.
Duran won the lightweight title in 1972 over Buchannan with a low blow. THAT was flagrant. Not tito's couple of punches below the belt here and there.

Tito did throw one intentional low blow and that was after he got knocked down. The others weren't intentional and neither were the low blows he landed on Mayorga.

It was a nasty fight no doubt about it with cheap shots from both fighters.Let me remind to tito's haters that the only way Vargas survived the first half of the fight was cheating with A THUMB TO THE EYE.Are you guys blind it was obvious even you can clearly heard when his corner said the thumb cheating was working.

I knew a lot of haters would start with their **** but at least some fans recognize that things like that happen in the heat of the moment and that Lampley's comment was total bull****. **** the haters!

Doesn;'t have to mention that if you are a professional commentator.

Oh please, man. Some people jump in with logical posts about how Trinidad is known to do whatever it takes to win, and show the evidence that he repeatedly threw low-blows in that fight, and you're going to start whining about haters.

Listen, maybe it wasn't the most tactful decision on Lampley's part to bring up the intentional low-blows, but they definitely were. Watch the fight again man, you can see how intentional they were.

lol, theyre hardly professional in delivering the commentary! Too many times I've listened to them kiss the ass of the house fighter to the point that it disgusted me. You'd think that there were no other fighters in the sport..just HBO fighters and their 'victims'

I think it's pretty obvious to most that saw the fight that Tito did intentionally hit Vargas low several times. Can't get angry at the man for tellin the truth, so I don't see what the problem is with him callin Tito on it. It was an ill fight, no doubt, but the fact remains that Tito did some dirty things intentionally in that fight.

i'd say one of the low blows Tito did was intentional. cuz he did it to get back at Vargas for hitting him low. anyway it don't matter cuz B-HOp is alot dirtier but we dont have abuncha ppl moaning and complaining about how idrty of a fighter b-hop is

I remember the announcers implying it was at the time, though.

A lot of boxers turn dirty when fights don't go their way even the nice ones....i.e.

Barrera (headbutts) Pacman
old JCC (lowblows) Kostya Tszyu
