If Trinidad finally goes up to 168 to fight for a belt, do you think he will get it? I know that Calzaghe and Lacy are the big names there but what about the others? Maybe fights against Mundine or even fellow Puerto Rican Manny Siacca. Any comments?

I don`t think Tito`s power is the same at 160. i know he KO`d Joppy but i think thats more to the style of Joppy fighting. Mayorga is a welterweight thus not countable. Cheiffi was shot and Hopkins walked through Tito`s punches. I am not convinced Tito`s power is the same at 160 as it was at 147 - 154. If he KO`s or floors Winky Wright, then yes, he has the same murderouspower! ( not to say he has no power at 160, he does, i just need convincing its MURDEROUS power ).

he is a little small boned for 168 but i think his power will still be there , i say he beats contender like siaca and mudine hands down , calzaghe and lacy are big strong 168 pounders .

i would say he has a shot at lacy , who tom e seems to have a suspect chin and an overrated punch.

I think 168 he could be competitive but they would certainly be the heaviest hitters hes ever faced.

Librado Andrade could also become a champ.

no chance for tito at 168 unless its maybe lacy or a bum, Joe would ebat him liek hopkins, people start getting big at 168 and tito is a welterwieght isnt he

lacy would KO tito, tito should stay where he is because he could do some damage when b-hop retires

tito could be a pretty serious contnder at 168, but it would be a bad time for him to go up - eric lucas and otis grant are back and looking really good, lacy might be able to take him out. supermiddle is still a weak div, but Tito has better prospects at 160, the power of a good, natural 168 pounder could be too much for trinidad

I'm not a Tito fan, but he would absolutely DOMINATE the 168 pound division, because it's the weakest division in the sport...

Tito, and also Don King, only want big fights, however, and there are no marquee names at 168, he'd skip 168 altogether if he moved up in weight and go straight for the cats at 175

Or what about Kessler who owned Siaca and who is fighting Mundine in May? Tito is too small to dominate super middleweight. There is no way way that he would be able to take Lacy's punches. Down goes Tito again.

the 168 pounders would throw tito around like he was a rag doll. And I wouldnt even think of him at 175. It would be like throwing a rat terrior in to fight a pitbull. Tito is not made up on a big frame. If you think about many that stepped up in weight they were normally very tall for the weight that they began fighting at. Thomas Hearns is the guy that comes to mind for that. Bottom line trinidad is not big enough nor strong enough to fight at 168 with his style. Now if he was a willie pep or chris byrd type, that could be a different story...............Rockin'

He's in for an enlightening experience if he fights up there.

Going up to 168 is career suicide. Lacy, or even Calzaghe would eat him alive. He should stay between junior middle and middle. At 154 I believe he can dominate. 160 is even pushing it if you ask me.

Just from what I've seen in boxing during my life there comes a point when common sense ends and greed or overconfidence begins.

Lacy dominate Tito.....damn I'm a big Jeff Lacy fan and I can't see it happening, even on Jeff's best day and Tito's worst, Trinidad has had one bad fight in the past 15 years and all of a sudden he doesn't have the ability to move up in weight and beat all of these chumpions....????...

Since when did Lacy and Calzone become so dangerous?

his body isnt built for it. Im not doubting his skills, but cmon, look at lacy and trinidad physically. Its a complete mismatch.

tito's chin isnt great and lacy has some pop. p4p tito is better but lacy's power would be the factor.

I think that the better question is since when did Tito have a good enough chin to be able to move up to super middleweight and dominate?

Look at 'em physically? Tell that to all of Riddick Bowe's opponents who got KTFO....this isn't a beauty competition, it's a prizefight

I am impressed by the fact that 2 of Jeff's opponents pulled out of the fight at the weigh-in when Jeff removed his shirt, that's pretty amazing....but those guys weren't Legends, Tito is

Tito's chin has won him 5 title belts in 3 divisions, with only 1 loss to a living legend, and 168 is WEAK

It doesn't matter that 168 is weak. He has been down in 7 fights against fighters who punch no where near as hard as Lacy or other top 168 lbs fighters. This is just asking for trouble.

If he want's to do it, fuk it, let him do it, that's what I like bout him he likes real challenges(?)...would a fight against Lacy/Calzague be risky? Of course...Would I pay to see it? Hell yeah..

I'd pay for it ... but I still think he'd be ill advised to do it.

Pernell Whitaker was too small for 154 pounds also...thats why he beat JC Vasquez for the WBA title at 154

you can't just speak "in general" about a guy being too small...is he too small for Jeff Lacy in particular? Probably. But too small for Markus Beyer? I doubt it.

he's been down in 7 fights, but he has 1 LOSS, knockdowns are what motivates Tito to take over and dominate (geez I can't believe that I'm defending Tito, I've rooted against him for about a decade...)

He has one loss, but then again he only has 3 wins at middlweight over, Cherifi, Mayorga, and Joppy. :sad6:

Beyer and Calzaghe are over the hill. Bute, Kessler, and Lacy are the future of the division.

When I started this thread, I asked if Trinidad could win a belt at 168. I don't care if he stays in that division, that is not the point. All I want to know is who thinks that he would get a belt at super middle. Any belt, I don't care. WBC, WBA, IBF, or WBO.

Well there is no way that he is going to beat Kessler, Calzaghe, or Lacy, but he may be able to beat Beyer, but then again everyone said that about Green too.

Hopkins can take Trinidad's punches not because Trinidad cant punch at 160 but because he's got a good chin (example Hopkins vs. Echols). I think Trinidad can punch at 160 but I think his power would decrease a little at 168 and his stamina will decrase noticably.

You never know, Tito can pull a Duran and beat Lacy at a 4th weight, its possible, Lacy isnt that great of a fighter, just depends if Trinidad can handle the weight, just 8 more pounds to become more legendary.
