There is no logic behind it. Its a way of an excuse when their fave fighter loses. Like when Tito lost to Hopkins, some might say Hopkins was scared and it wasn`t a real win because he didn`t sit in the eye of the storm and take a beating! A boxing fan is a fan who appreciates the artistry of the game, anyone who just wants KO`s is a violence junky!

boxing is know as the manly art of self defense. Defense being the key word in there. These people dont understand the subtle tactics that go on in the ring. All they undersatnd is "THE MOTHER****ERS DOWN, THE MOTHER****ERS OUT!!!!." Let them speak their minds and then let it go in one ear and out the other. To them there is little going on in a boxing ring unless they are slugging it out and somebody is gushing blood from every vien in their body. And for me it would seem that there is little going on in the heads of these people.......... :boxing: Rockin'

If you mean Oscar runing from him than you have hidden agendas of your own.

Oscar nearly made it pay off! Just one more round and he`d have won! sure knockouts are exciting but it isn`t everything. Its good sometimes to see a great KO puncher get schooled, such wonderful nights i can recall are:
Tito Vs Hopkins
Morales Vs Pacman
Naseem Vs Barrera
Byrd Vs Tua

These are BOXERS and guess what, there GREAT!

Well arent you the same group of people who hate Ruiz, why? Cause he grabs onto his oppent to survive, thats how he wins his fights, Oscar didnt even throw punches he just ran, stuff like that give boxing a bad name, aslo double standards.

Oscar through plenty of punches early in that fight and won early rounds. And remember, he may not have thrown the punches but he avoided many of Tito`s. Thats ring generalship and you score points on that aspect too. Why does it give boxing a bad name because he didn`t throw punches. Boxing is a human chess game of wit and skill. If everyone throws punches all the time they would tire quickly. Appreciate the art and movement i.e defence etc.. it isn`t all KO and blood!

DLH did a great stick & move through the first 8 rounds, you could give him the 9th although by that round, Trinidad was starting to take over. However, what DLH did in rounds 10-12 is not called boxing or moving. That was plain " running so I don't get caught " routine.

People use to acuse Trinidad of cheating with his gloves, yet Morales makes Pacman use lesser gloves than his and not a peep, ever noticed how Trinidad was hacked on for low blowing and when Hopkins does it, its called art, everythings a double standard, people can be so blind, you need to admit that your not hating on "Trinidad fans or Tyson fans" but that you are a fan yourself, instead of pertending you are a boxing expert who knows it all.

Ruiz holding all of the time does not display skill. A boxer using good movement and using the entire ring does....Rockin'

and i agree, if gloves didnt matter so much why did morales's promoter put it in the contract, maybe pac coulda won, and i also agree hopkins is a ***** when it comes to fight refs, didnt he almost fly back to philly cause they wanted george corteze who is probally the best ref in boxing do one of his fights, hopkins gets these crappy refs that let him low blow and crap liek that. but boxing and staying away from a big puncher is what u r suppsoe to do.

Not goin toe to toe with Trinidad doesn't make you a pussi...many fighters went toe to toe with Tito cuz they thought they could trade with him...and end up getting koed, But at the same time going toe to toe against someone that its known for his ko power makes the fighter look like a real warrior...

Kimmy
03-25-2005, 07:43 PM
And looking like a warrior doesn`t win a fight ( ask Gatti )!

there are plenty of guys in boxing rec that were true warriors, always slugging it out no matter who stood in front of them firing bombs back. The thing is with many of these "true warriors" they lost alot of fights, too many fights. Being a warrior is nice to watch but does little for the boxers career in most cases. What ever happened to the word boxing. Today it seems that it means fighting straight on with little defense and little regard for using skill to win a BOXING match. Learn the game and learn the trade and you will also in time learn to appreciate the fighters that do actually posses boxing skills........Rockin'

Fans are important to a degree sice they pay your purses through Pay per View, tickets etc.. but its all about the win essentially. If Gatti boxed at times when he brawled he could have beaten Manfredy, Ivan Robinson and Micky Ward in the first fight. And that Samson guy early in his career. ****, gatti`s record could be 45 - 1!

Yep!!! He`d never have won that fight, Oscar was so much bigger. But apart from the Oscar fight has Gatti been blown away? NOPE! Mayweather doesn`t have the power to do it, but he has the skill and speed to dominate Gatti. But like Gatti said in press conference today, Mayweathers have bad chins. Rodger did and so did Floyd senior. IF....Gatti can land, then yes, he has a chance. Buddy McGirt is a bonus to Gatti in this fight!
