I never saw the fight or knew why he got DQ'd, but my Uncle did tell me he had hit the guy while he was down and the ref called the fight off. In any case, Montell Griffin was a very good fighter in those days and his style was so awkward...that's why he beat James Toney twice. The Harding fight posed some problems but Roy didn't look in very good shape for that fight either. Normally he is in great shape but you can tell just by loking at his body in that fight that he was not. |
